Republican rallies have adopted an increasingly incendiary tone towards Senator Barack Obama, with shouts of "kill him", "treason" and "terrorist" interrupting speeches by Senator John McCain and Governor Sarah Palin.

The negative approach taken by the McCain-Palin campaign has coincided with a series of aggressive expressions towards the Democratic nominee over his left-wing associations and background.

Apart from highlighting Mr McCain's connections to the Keating Five scandal, the Obama campaign has perceived benefits in staying above the fray but is always prepared with a defence when attacked.

With Mr Obama leading in the polls and only 24 days to go before the US presidential election, the series of outbursts have sparked the interest of the Secret Service, which guards the candidates and other dignitaries.

They launched a brief investigation after a man was heard, but not recorded, by journalists shouting "kill him", when Mrs Palin, the Republican vice-presidential nominee, was speaking of Mr Obama's links to Bill Ayers, a former domestic terrorist who is now a professor in Chicago. The two men sat together on educational committees but have rarely been in contact for six years.

At a rally in Pennsylvania this week, Bill Platt, the local Republican leader, warmed up the crowd by several times referring to "Barack Hussein Obama", focusing on the Illinois senator's middle name.

When Mr McCain asked "Who is the real Barack Obama?" a supporter shouted back: "He is a bomb." Chants of "Nobama, Nobama" mingled with cries of "terrorist", as one banner in the crowd declared: "Go ahead, let the dogs out."

In question and answer sessions, impassioned Republicans have implored Mr McCain to take a tougher line in next week's final debate with Mr Obama.

At a McCain rally in Wisconsin on Thursday, a man brought the crowd to its feet when he took the microphone and bellowed: "I'm really mad. And what's going to surprise you is it's not the economy -- it's the socialists taking over our country."

Mr Obama, in Ohio yesterday, said of Mr McCain's hostile tone: "It's not going to work. There's nothing easier than riling up a crowd by stoking anger and division. But that's not what we need right now in the United States."

The McCain campaign has said that, amid the hubbub, the candidates could not hear inflammatory remarks.

    • Haven't you noticed how McCain tried to dial back these attacks at a rally? After sending out his "pit bull in lipstick", he noticed that the reaction was fast and furious. Now Sarah Palin has been found to have abused her power as Governor of Alaska.

Do you realize that this is a serious charge for someone that would be a heartbeat away from the President? If she would abuse power at a low level what could we expect from the top level?

      Somebody had this theory.

The only people who move up in the worst of the corporate world have a dossier full of dirt and they don't own it..

That way the instant they do move up but won't do as they are told they can be sacked. Should they try to go public then suddenly all this dossier evidence of crime spills out. And the game continues.

    • I'm sorry... but who really cares what some dumb redneck KKK reject asshole yelled at the rally?

As long as the guy who yelled it isn't actively trying to hunt down and murder Obama, what does it matter? I understand it's hardly an appropriate thing to shout in any situation, but really... overreacting much?

I don't give a shit about Obama or McCains rallies so I could really fucking care less... but what I care about is our government wasting tax dollars to chase down a dumb fuck who shouted something stupid that doesn't have the balls to act on it anyway...

Inciting people to violence? Hmm... Obama is still alive last I checked...

Instead of worrying about some dumb hick... why don't we worry about the present asshole in office who is getting away with mass murder? Or does lying to start a war (occupation) that kills over 1 million Iraqis not crime enough for you?

Or are we all too worried about the possibility of violence to pay attention the senseless violence that is already happening?

See... here we go blowing this out of proportion again.

"Kill Him!" does not equate to : Track him down, murder him and his entire family... But I suspect if someone wanted to really kill him they wouldn't make a point of yelling it out in public... that kind of defeats the purpose.

For one, the guys in Denver with guns was total bullshit... last I checked the media tried to spin that whole story to make it look like they were after Obama. But those guys were actually just crack heads with no clue and no intention to kill anyone. But maybe I missed a different story?

People have been wanting to kill Bush for years and no one has done it yet... so please don't try and tell me Obama is in some sort of mortal danger. The entire world hates Bush and only a bunch of racist republican assholes hate Obama. Please tell me who has the better odds of meeting an untimely death?

If they want to question some "Domestic Terrorists" please direct them to: Donald Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz, Dick Cheney, George Bush Sr and Jr, Karl Rove, Condoleezza Rice, Richard Perle and many others that were once part of or currently in our government.

      Brendan_M,

It looks like Ayahuasca2012 get's his news, views and legal opinions from FOX Noise.

That's how he knows that inciting to violence is no big deal. It only counts when Obama is dead.

So he tells us, ""Kill Him!" does not equate to : Track him down, murder him and his entire family... But I suspect if someone wanted to really kill him they wouldn't make a point of yelling it out in public... that kind of defeats the purpose."

      - Your Honor it was just vibrating molecules in my client, the Defendant's, tonsils, is all. The Defence rests. -

Obama's actual death would bring in Accessory to Murder, Conspiracy, and so forth.

But we get still more legal omniscience.

"For one, the guys in Denver with guns was total bullshit... last I checked the media tried to spin that whole story to make it look like they were after Obama. But those guys were actually just crack heads with no clue and no intention to kill anyone. But maybe I missed a different story?"

And Ayahuasca2012 can prove this - how? By thinking it?

Wow Avery... Did you even read a word of what I typed? Fox News? I wouldn't watch that garbage if it was the last news station in existence.

Ok then fine, I'm wrong and everything a person ever says regardless of the situation, whether it was meant as a joke, regardless of any factors can and should be used to prosecute them if possible. Now let's go arrest McCain for his Bomb, Bomb, Bomb, Bomb, Bomb Iran statement...

Seriously, I mean it. I concede, you win... lets go get that potential mass murderer and stop him before he gets into the White House citizens arrest style. Let's see that fucker fry, because we all know he meant that he wanted to see Iranians dead and if he gets into office he's going to bomb Iran.

You've been watching too much Law and Order or some shit man... Where do you get the idea the guy was trying to incite violence? So the dumb shit screamed "Kill Him!" do you really think he or any of the crowd was going to act on it? Really, truly and seriously?

Hey, maybe I'm downplaying the seriousness of it all. Maybe this is huge, maybe this guy is just waiting for the chance to blow Obama's head off. Those are after all the kind of people that the Republican's pander to. The hatemongers, the warmongers, the kind of people that feel killing anyone who disagree's with them is ok, the people that feel money is above everything.

I suppose I worded my statement incorrectly when I said those guys in Denver didn't intend to kill anyone. But would they have ever gotten within firing range of Obama... fuck no. That city was so locked down those dumb shit racist redneck crackheads would have never gotten to him. So maybe I should have said they were never really a threat. The media did go with the story and run with it though... you can''t deny that. One would almost wonder if it was all a show, to get Obama more publicity... It's not like it would be that hard to pull off.

I don't need to prove anything to you Avery... I was stating an opinion which "you" are free to research and disprove. I really don't care...

I think I'm off to watch me some Law and Order: Criminal Intent so I can be an expert like you now!!!

    • I wonder if those who shouted "kill him!" will be charged with terrorism by homeland securtity and sent to Guantanamo and have electrodes attached to their genitals while left in solitary confinement for a week with music blasting at deafening levels.

That would be such bittersweet irony.
