    • The fact about the economy has been failing reflects back on the welfare system. We provide help for everyone that comes in this country or already here. Why? The way I look at is GET A JOB!!! I work and raise 3 kids on my own with no welfare check or help. Women that are having babies for me to support should not have any if they cant take care of them or afford them. Thats simple, be abstinence it wont kill you,but not being can. Yes, there are more reasons too. What about banks that was lending people money that didnt deserve it, but now its the presidents fault,NOT!!!! He didnt demand the banks to lend money or else. Not just the banks fault but whoever signed a loan that knew they couldnt afford it,,,thats pretty much common sense!!!

    • When asked the question if he thought Palin would make a good he gave no answer except to say he was proud of her. Sounds like a parent would say about their child being a good student, not if she could do a good job at something.

    • One man or woman cannot change this train-wreck-of-a-government!

Wake up americans...neither McCain or Obama has any real power to make EFFECTIVE change in government. We have elected a ruling elite, so entrenched they only leave when the want to. The only way to get "the change we need" is to get rid of the do-nothings on capitol hill who collect large salaries and pensions along, with free health care, whether they do their job or not. It is nearly impossible to get rid of a standing member of congress. They write their own rules. TERM LIMITS hasn't been discussed once in this ridiculous, overdone, and wasteful campaign. Leadership to me is someone who can look in the camera and tell the citizens that BOTH parties were to blame here...pointing across the aisle to the other party does not solve problems...it only exacerbates them. Doesn't anyone else see this? If you take away the incentive to get re-elected, maybe these "representatives" would grow a nut sack and do the right thing for once and say to hell with party politics. Obama is one man. One man. There are 535 others who need to be replaced. NOW.

Who knows and who cares. We're electing a president...not a moral compass. Some of us don't need to look to other people to tell us what to do or not do. Some of us are capable of making that decision all on our own.

You like him because he's calm and he doesn't get angry.

Two things that are not you.

And if that really were the case about making decisions on your own people wouldn't blame McCain for some of his supporters comments.

You can't have it both ways...though you try really hard to force that circular peg in that square hole.

    • Ever read the Clockwork Orange? The writer played with language to make everything sound so clam when what was going on was so violent. It was an experiment just like what was going on in the book. It's so smart.....because that's what Obama reminds me of. He crafts his words and people follow like rats follow the piper out of town.

Every video created for Obama is so creative and wonderful but they use sound bites from his speeches and they use the same thing over and over again...either him quoting a founding father or talking about change and making things happen for the "American People", but nothing about how he'll do it or if it's even possible.

People want to hear that things can be done. They don't want to hear that it's not possible. They don't want to hear that things are far more dire than it is. They want to be lied to but in a way that makes them feel fluffy.

      That's what Obama does.

You can reply by attacking McCain but since that's nothing new, considering this site, it won't be entertaining. I have never defended him or his ideas. I'm just pointing out that Obama isn't as nice a politician as he states nor is he as well informed as people think. I question the good speakers of this world because they always have the worst agendas. Always hiding something....and rarely are they doing something for the greater good.

Just like a flirt. Their intent is to butter up the person but get what they want from them without looking like a vile pig.

    • J_Jammer:

She's actually fought for what she speaks about via proof of her Governorship. As well as during said debates and getting rid of certain corrupt people.

Being part of the Senate surely doesn't provide such opportunities to prove you can do as you speak.

What she does is insult with a vengeance and though she can be snarky I believe it's a tad too much for what is needed...it's not even needed at all. And that terrorist comment is bad but nearly as bad as people make it out to be. The way people react is their fault not the fault of the person speaking, because no one is doing as they should and calling people that swoon for Obama stupid because some don't know about his policies and only think he wears pretty ties and that's why they like him.

I think McCain and Palin are allowing the ruthless rudeness of Obama supporters and the snide smile of Obama (it's not always kind) get to them and allow it to bug them more than it should and they start doing and saying things that's just not smart to say.

People fail to understand that Obama has not been tested in this. he's had an easy ride. Clinton was right that he has been sitting on pillows and comfort of the Media when she said that. Bitter she might be but he's yet to withstand the fire and brimstone that others have and people think he's ready to do it.

What has he withstood? The insults of people that are suppose to insult him.....and none from the media or groups of protesters that surely will happen during his four years should he become President. We don't know how he'll react because he hasn't gotten that.

It's easy to smirk off one person telling you this or that while having so many back you.

I am thinking he doesn't have that to withstand. Could he stand someone calling his wife ugly? Stupid? Dumb? retarded? Or his kids names?

Can he? What would he do? Smile and say "you're wrong?"

    • J_Jammer:

Except that you are completely wrong. Obama has said time and time again that things are going to get worse before they get better. That we are in dire financial situation. He said repeatedly last night that we are facing the worst financial environment since the great depression. Just because you weren't listening (or more likely, chose not to hear) doesn't mean he's not saying it. You are wrong...again.

    • J_Jammer:

He's not saying how bad it will get. Stating it's bad and choosing the words that are fluffy causes people to ignore what is being said as it's ok.

      it's not ok.

I have heard him say that...but it means nothing. It doesn't explain what's going to happen before it gets better.

Words are play things....he's a master at making things better than they are not.

He is saying it. But he's also saying we can do something about it. If you don't buy it...that's your business. But saying that he's just painting a rosy picture is simply not true. You might WANT it to be true...but it's not.

Sorry Jammer...time to look for another line of attack, because this one's not working either. What else ya got?

    • J_Jammer:

It's alive. You didn't knock it down.

People that feel the need to say little always make their words pretty and smooth that way people think that they're actually saying something.

      That's what a con-artist does.

Why do you like Obama? Is it because his speeches? Because President Harding spoke well and was good looking but his substance was nowhere to be found. Is it because of his policy of hope and change? Because he's only stating the obvious of what happens every single four years...hope and change. Is it because you actually know and understand his plans?

If that's the case why do you constantly attack McCain instead of actually speak up and talk about the great plans Obama has...where are those news articles that do that?

I've seen more things that denounce McCain and very little on why Obama is better.

Okay Jammer...take a breath, calm down and re-read this thread. I never attacked McCain, in fact I didn't even mention him. I simply proved your feeble argument wrong by citing actual words that Senator Obama said last night. I know that makes you angry, but rather than getting all bent out of shape about being proven wrong you should channel that energy into developing a better argument.

Or not...it's up to you. Either way, good luck.

    • Why is Joe the Plumber interesting? Because he represents middle America and how Obama is going to ruin it. People need to just realize, poor, middle class Americans DON'T create jobs, the rich do. Taking money from them and giving it to the poor doesn't work, and NONE of Obama's miraculous plans will work if the rich stop buying things or spending their money. Mac was right to point this out, and I don't care how good of a speaker Obama is, the substance matters, not the delivery. If you put an inexperienced answerman in office you'll be reaping what you sew, and that's even more economic distress. Clinton raised taxes after saying he wouldn't too, Obama can't finance all his spending and he knows it. He'll get into office, raise taxes and blame Bush for it. Mark these words.

and who force Frannie may to take sub prime mortgages the government forced them to do which was in '99 hay Clinton administration and what was one of the major problems too many sub prime mortgages going bad.

"In 1999, Fannie Mae came under intense pressure from the Clinton administration to ease its credit requirements on the mortgages it was willing to purchase in order to encourage lenders to extend more mortgages to borrowers with low to moderate income and improve rates of home ownership among those groups. Shareholders also pressured Fannie Mae to purchase mortgages below its conventional credit standards in order to maintain its record profits.[7]"

    • this was the funniest shit i have seen so far in a presidential debate.
One candidate, Obama, trying to talk about issues, and THE OTHER, STILL TALKING ABOUT BULLSHIT.

mccain referred to at least 4-5 dead presidents, hoover, reagan, fdr etc.., what century is this man living in. How can he affect any type of change when he is still living in the past.

I was a little surprised that senator Obama did not retort on some McCain's silliness, but, it is apparent the man has too much class.
when he say to me that he was not George W, I would said, I can't tell, you continue to vote along the same lines of his failed policies.

when mccain, asked about avery and acorn, I would have asked him about the Keating 5, the savings and loan scandal, phil graham and why he wan't to overturn rowe v wade.

when asked about acorn and possible voter fraud, i would have asked him who really won Florida, Bush or Gore, and what about those hanging chads

When asked about character, i would have asked him why he left his first wife for the first piece of ass that came along with money
There are several other things I would have asked him about. Primarily, why can't you just stay on task and answer the questions.

does anyone else feel the same way that i do,
did he say he had an economic strategy?
I hope america now see the warmonger and moose murderer for what they really are mooseshit.

one other note, when asked about their pick for vp,
Obama gave an intelligent answer and added (i hope america takes notes) god forbid if something should happen to me, Joe B is competent and capable of running this country.

Do you really think sarah is?

    • Can anyone who makes LESS than $250,000 a year PLEASE explain to me, in a respectful way, why they would cast a vote for McCain/Palin?

I HONESTLY want to know because McCain, Palin and their supporters TRULY intrigue me.

Tonight all I heard was McCain plagiarizing Senator Clintons mortgage rescue plan, "drill baby drill", grandpa stories about Joe Plummer aka Joe Six Pac and Bill Ayers/Acorn/unfounded character attacks.

      I didn't hear anything original!

How is he going to reform healthcare? Those $5,000 tax credits? Have you stopped to think about how McCain taxing healthcare benefits for the first time in history will effect healthcare costs? You really think a middle-aged person with existing health issues can afford a policy with that pocket change McCain is proposing?

And what about education? Vouchers alone wont solve the problem. Vouchers are awarded to a set amount of students. What happens to all of the students who do not receive vouchers? The answer is not shipping select students off to better schools. The answer is comprehensive reform across the ENTIRE public school system! PERIOD!

As far as energy goes McCain has ridden the “drill baby drill” train long enough! By now it should be common knowledge that we do not have enough oil in this country alone to feed our needs. Furthermore if McCain is so concerned with drilling “here and now” why dont he and Governer Palin use their maverick finesse to influence oil companies to drill on the land they already have leased?

WHY IS NO ONE DISCUSSING THE LAND OIL COMPANIES ALREADY HAVE LEASED?!?!

This whole offshore drilling campaign is nothing more than a loosely constructed farce! A distraction to divert our attention from the real problem. The real problem is that our entire government, both Democrats and Republicans have FAILED us when it comes to energy policy! SERIOUSLY! We need to focus on green technology HERE! Create jobs HERE so I can purchase a car and products that read: MADE IN THE USA once again.

      I’m with future President Obama!

I believe Obama stands on the side of the average American. I respect John McCain, I just don’t find him at all believable or authentic on issues that are important to me.

Sorry McCain Palin people! This was not the a** kicking McCain promised.

He still looks arrogant and he kept interrupting Barack talking over him, even laughing while he spoke. Not to mention was it just me or did McCain during the last hour start to seem like he was more concerned with doing a gestapo style interrogation of Barack Obama?

Who are his associates? Why won't he denounce unfair attacks against McCain? What is his REAL connection to Bill Ayers & Acorn?

McCain finally asked the important questions- and Obama had no real answers.
