Yet another Republican/Conservative for Obama!
This time it's William F. Buckley's son.

From The Article:

Christopher Buckley knew he was venturing into treacherous territory when he endorsed Barack Obama: "It's a good thing my dear old mum and pup are no longer alive. They'd cut off my allowance," he wrote. The penalty turned out to be more severe. William F. Buckley Jr.'s son said yesterday that he had lost his back-page column in National Review, the conservative bible founded by his father.

"Within hours, poor NR was being swamped with furious mail, 'Cancel my subscription, this is betrayal, Judas, Benedict Arnold,' " Buckley, 56, said in an interview. "I thought the decent thing to do would be to offer to resign the column. Well, they accepted it."

Buckley can't be completely disappeared; the Washington author owns one-seventh of National Review and serves on the magazine's board. But he is the latest right-leaning pundit to be slammed by his side for criticizing or breaking with John McCain...

    • Taking a stand -- being smart seems to elude those who just go with the program. I respect this guy for his stance. He is intelligent, and those who are intelligent are not going to go with someone who continues to make bad decisions.
Palin, anger, destructive ads, anger, being sporadic when the crash occur. He's just full of dramatics.

Can you make an arguement without comparing Obama supporters to McCain's? That line is seriously wearing thin, and it makes you sound bitter.

This time out, the Democrats have a better candidate. Many people realize this and are crossing party lines to vote Democrat because they feel Obama is the better candidate. Some of the more vocal Dems who have crossed over have expressed mistrust of Obama or anger over Hillary losing the primaries, which is where a majority of the critism comes from.

Everyone has the right to their opinion, but that doesn't mean I have to like or agree with that opinion.

You can't expect someone who's viciously attacking the candidate of the Democratic party to not be attacked. McCain should have never attacked Obama and ran a clean campaign and there would ne no need to "attack" him.

That, and those attacks are pale in comparison to the McCain supporter's full-on assault on everything Barack Obama.

I'm talking about the front page of Current....

...and just because he attacks doesn't mean Obama has to. And just because McCain attacks doesn't EVER mean that Obama's attacks are justifiable.

      Ok?

      Ok.

I wasn't aware the front page of current was a haven for McCain attacks. I could have SWORN it was for news stories posted by current users...

Also, It's okay for McCain to attack Obama but not the other way around? Right...

So I guess Obama should just let McCain say what he wants and not attack in response. Then you can call him a wimp for not trying defending himself. Really, you just want a reason to disqualify him from being president.

And please do not talk about you don't like either of them attacking. I've never once seen you talk harsly against McCain in the same manner as Obama. Of course attacks are unjustified, but when you're punched do you stand there and take it or do you punch back?

Leave J_Jammer alone. Based on his answers, he clearly lives and breathes for this website. It's his life. If a week goes by, and something he posted doesn't make it to the front page of Current, he doesn't get to buy himself a blizzard at the DQ that weekend.

He's harmless, and he's living in a vacuum. Don't waste your time trying to open his mind.

    • People have the right to choose, and it is sad when someone bags you for your choice. I hate groups and will continue to hate them until Americans that support republicans or democrats stop talking out of their asses, and start saying something that will help all of us, and will effect all of us for the good. Forget about parties, how about the citizen voting for another citizen, How about that. We are humans and we will continue to make factions, support factions and all the above to factions. That is why I personally hate factions.

    • Even Buckley wouldn't support The Penguin aka John McCain. Watch the debate between The Penguin and John McCain and see if you see the similarities

    • Republicans don't care about who's the better man.

All republicans care is that a republican (preferably a stupid one) gets into office.

With Obama, no way they can start a war by sneaking some bull past him, they'll get caught.

McCain and Palin ? Like most grandparents, McCain can be manipulated to do anything.

And Palin ? She makes George look like a genius so there's no way she'd be running the country.

She would think she is, just like that Idiot George does but have you ever noticed, you never hear George speak when Cheney is drinking water.

    • Though I usually disagreed with William Buckly, I did respect him. His opinions were his own and he never resorted to brainless talking points and disdained those who did. He would verbally disembowel anyone using sloppy logic even if they were agreeing with his point of view and always respected with a reasoned argument even if the person was in disagreement. How very different from present discourse on television with only a few exceptions on a few pbs shows. Now all you generally see is an exchange of prefabed talking points endlessly and brainlessly parroted,no logic,no objectivity, just emotional buzz words slung carelessly about posing as ideas.
