Thousands of horses in the Philippines are being crippled and maimed in illegal battles as part of a three day festival on Mindanao Island. Gambling on these fights has become lucrative business for crime bosses and corrupt police officers in this desperately poor economy.
I've heard of all sorts of animal fights, but never horses. Disturbing video at this link:

    • After watching a recent horse fighting video, I cried in sheer shock and sadness....this quite clearly has to come to an end.
Go onto www.care2petitionsite.com and sign the horse fighting petition...we can end this barbaric blood sport together.

    • This is really really horrible, I couldn't bring myself to watch the video. It's obviously a vicious circle too if people are so poor and desperate as to gamble on these fights.

    • Humans arranging grotesque exploitations of other species? No way! From the same advanced species that developed slavery, genocide and global meltdown. Bleah.

    • No.

I would have never went to a gladiator fight if I were in Rome. I could never watch a cock fight nor do I want to see two horses fight. No thank you. It's not fighting because one wants to to accomplish a noble goal of victory or saving someone from death. It's more like being forced and bet on and there's no other choice.

The word cruel doesn't even begin to mark how stupid this is...no matter the age of the 'tradition'.

      So was slavery.

Pass them on via wills, even. People grew up using them and died having them....

Tradition, just like law, does not equate to right nor should it be ignored just because it's labeled such.

Breaking tradition is like breaking a bad habit...it's difficult for a single person to accomplish that, just think how hard it would be to do that with millions.

    • This is mass cruelty to animals and monstrous. Someone should shut these crime lords down and make an example of them so that noone ever even thinks of trying this evil again. How depraved these degenerates are.
