Next Step: chosing the right candidate. So I went online and started researching candidates not parties. When I came across Dr. Ron Paul, I was shocked that I hadn't heard from him before. I bought a book called "Ron Paul Speaks by Philip Haddad and Roger Marsh, Ron Paul did the introduction. IThe book is just his quotes on different subjects that would be appealing to anyone. I was very shocked to see how much truth he has revealed, about our Gov't, the Federal Reserve, and reason when he switch this medical career for a political one. After reading and researching Dr. Ron Paul I thought why wouldn't anyone vote for him???
He has been loyaly consistent when he votes, he votes for what he believes in. I should say that I don't think that he is running this year, but I know he is on the voting ballot for president. That was confusing to me. However, I know Dr. Paul has endorsed Chuck Baldwin for President which he holds the same principles and Dr. Ron Paul. Please just give this site a few minutes of your time, it will open yours eyes!!

The current two party system will never cease to be. On both sides you have extremely powerful, power hungry entities that are essentially two sides of the same coin. Although I do respect Ron Paul, his is just an exercise in futility until true revolution can come.

Great question, natabeanz! I share your enthusiasm for liberty and for Ron Paul. While I did enjoy listening to the logic and reason from Chuck Baldwin and Ralph Nader in the 3rd party debate on Thursday, I have serious disagreements with the Constitution Party. Their stances on defending liberty, promoting sound economics and binding the government with the Constitution are great, but I am not a fan of all of the Christian and Biblical references in their platform. In my opinion, a few of their positions are clearly misguided by religion.
I really like the Libertarian Party's platform, but the drawback (for me) there is Bob Barr. Even though he has adopted libertarian positions I still have a hard time not thinking of him as the pro-War-on-Drugs, pro-Defense-of-Marriage-Act, pro-Patriot-Act, pro-Iraq-war Republican that helped lead the witch hunt to impeach Bill Clinton. I'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt and take him at his word. I know that whenever I've changed my position on issues I always felt that I had an edge since I already knew and fully explored my former views. Maybe Barr could draw on his experience in the C.I.A. and his old viewpoints to make him a strong champion of libertarianism.
Anyway, that said, I just wanted to say that since you're interested in Ron Paul's politics maybe you would like the Campaign for Liberty. Many of us who have been active in the R3volution have steered our energies in that direction once Dr. Paul withdrew from the race. And, as the quote that wholefreespirit added says, "If you choose to go into the electoral arena, you'd better go in with strength." Grassroots! :-)
"Educate and inform the whole mass of the people... They are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty. " ~ Thomas Jefferson

Thanks Hawkmang...organization and commitment are the only way we will ever see our way out of a two party system....I would love for there to be more viable choices on the ticket and more perspectives during the debates, but the final verdict is....I don't want to waste my vote on a candidate who has no chance. Keep up the good work and get us another party for the next election...but for now, vote Obama and don't let your vote be the one who elects McCain and Palin.

ZINN: Well, you're not going to break the paralysis of the two-party system within the party system. In other words, you're not going to break it in the electoral system by putting up a third-party candidate whose showing will inevitably be pitiful and will therefore only be a demonstration of the weakness of the movement outside of the electoral arena. If you choose to go into the electoral arena, you'd better go in with strength. If you're going with weakness, you are not doing a progressive movement any good.

Correction: Chuck Baldwin is a valid candidate for President, in which Dr. Ron Paul has endorsed. Dr. Ron Paul is on the ballot in my state (Montana) and Louisiana, however, he has choice not to run for President and continue in his Cogressional seat.
Now for the non-believers or misled...'
From "Ron Paul Speaks", In Congress, Paul has never voted to increase taxes. He has voted for an unbalanced budget. He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership. He has never voted to raise congressional pay. He has never takes government-paid junket. He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch. He voted against the Patriot Act. He voted against regulating Internet. He voted against the Iraq War. He does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program. He returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. Treasury every year."
I will be sure to add more information later... i'm cooking dinner. - 3 years ago

Ron Paul didnt make it because the govt. and congress doesn't want someone like him, someone who is honest, logical, who actually cares about people, someone who would actually clean up the mess thatt congress has created,, get rid of the federal reserve and all the corruption. who wants that? not the people who work in D.C.. because they want to make all ther money they can get while keeping everyone back and creating debt. and more debt. and controlling us and continue to enslave us, but who wants someone like that to free us. land of the free my balls!!!
i would vote for Ron Paul any election. But they will never put a person like Ron Paul up for election. - 3 years ago

I feel like voting for Paul, only because he wants to do away with the federal reserve.

Then you are uninformed and a threat to yourself and others...
why don't you try researching "fairtax" before you give your vote to something that doesn't matter.
Truly a ridiculous statement.

This is an important point you should all read before writing in Dr. Paul... (Vote Chuck Baldwin if you want to support Ron Paul)
RazorLazer posted:
I have ties to someone who works in a local voting office. He told me write-in candidates must be registered correctly. Because Ron Paul ran as a Republican he is NOT a viable write-in (the party chose McCain). If you decide to vote for Ron Paul, your vote will not be counted (for president, for all other positions/issues your vote will be valid).*Don't* throw away your vote this way, find another suitable candidate.

I agree with jh64487. For every two things he says that are brilliant and just, there is one so far outside of the box that they are dangerous. But he shows just how much we need a third party in our politics and government.

Chuck Baldwin and Ralph Nader third party debate last night in Washington, DC. The best debate so far (extremely informative)! A must see for all before you cast you vote.

He's right, but even though his policies are sound and would probably have kept us out of this disaster, they are too extreme of a change to incorporate even over an 8 year term. Not to mention he doesn't really have the public speaking skills like Obama. He's so passionate about his ideas that he comes off a bit kooky to people who don't know or understand who he is. It's too bad...
BTW.. Ron Paul has officially endorsed Chuck Baldwin of the Constitution Party. A vote for Chuck is a vote for Ron Paul!

the problem with ron paul is this. While he has some really interesting things to say, he also has some outrageously daffy policies. He's excellent where he is, as a voice of reason in Congress, but he'd make a disastrous president.
