For years liberals, conservatives, independents, DC, Main Street and Wall Street seemingly defied all normality and not only embraced, but nearly worshipped the same individual, Alan Greenspan. After rising in 1987 to the position of Chairman of the Federal Reserve, the most powerful financial position in the world, he presided over the most sustained period of economic growth in the history of America. He rode the wave of private sector technological achievements that created abnormally high productivity growth. To many it was his greatness that brought about the increase in income, increase in homeownership, increase in credit, increase in all things material — while still maintaining price stability.

    • So you claim, and can prove, that Andrea Mitchell single handedly coerced her husband sexually to make the former head of the US Federal Reserve 'question capitalism' to precipitate a market collapse affecting millions of people, to hurt John McCain.

That's your theory? And you are confident it isn't just the usual bullshit you spew from your perch in the Oregon stratosphere?

Are you too dumb and ignorant to understand the laws of slander and libel?

Because if Andrea Mitchell decides to sue you she has all the proof she requires, right on this page, to instruct legal counsel to skin you alive in court. There will be no difficulty at all tracing where your message came from and who sent it. So you have absolutely zero protection.

Do you want to keep going on this theme or wait for the lawyers to intervene?

      Your call.

    • nobamagirl,

You just blew another history quiz now, didn't you? Fact checking just isn't your strong suit.

Alan Greenspan retired from the FED early in 2006, right?

Barack Obama didn't announce his presidency run until 10 February 2007, right?

As far as similar beliefs? What are they? When were they expressed and where? Show us all.

Otherwise the two have no connection whatsoever and never will.

Greenspan has been a lifelong Republican and an early adherent to the radical ideals of Ayn Rand and Objectivism. FED policies were shaped around the objectivist idea of "unfettering" business. Rand believed that business must be free of all but minimal "interference" by government.

There is no way on this earth, not for his wife, not for his country, that Alan Greenspan would abandon his party, his beliefs, or his ideology to help Obama do anything, let alone take over the Presidency.

But you just had to find somebody to smear because every time Senator McCain resorts to saying something false or crazy Senator Obama thumps him in the polls - and especially in Oregon.

Suck it up nobamagirl. Senator McCain is losing because more Americans trust Obama that you can cope with.

    • uppityprogressive,

Not new on Alan's part. Remember all the trouble a few years back in Fiji?

      Same game.

The British refused to let the Fijians rise above their imposed station and imported a bureacratic class from India. While the Fijians deliberately were kept down, the East Indians managed to do quite well, so well that after the British left the Fijians had had enough and they had thier coup..

In Iraq after the invasion? They imported all the cheap labor they could find, even sub-contracted to slavers, but left the Iraqis without work.

"Wage Insecurity" to imperial swindlers is like sweet music. Can't get enough of it.

    • Book review of Ravi Batra's "Greenspan's Fraud" by historian and radio host for Air America, Thom Hartman:

      http://www.buzzflash.com/hartmann/05/07/har05007.html#bio

Greenspan once said his job was to "maintain wage insecurity", encouraging exploitation of the worker and indirectly encouraging illegal immigrant workers to undermine the wage security of low wage Americans. I am not against immigrants, but pointing out that the influx of undocumented workers was no accident, but encouraged by right wing ideology.

    • Greenspan is a turncoat. He used to be an advocate of the gold standard, but then he became the chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve....epic fail

I know, I just find it bizarre that with his background belief in the gold standard that he could preside over the biggest credit boom in history.

It boggles my mind. He clearly knew better.

Who was paying his second paycheck from Switzerland?
      And for what purpose?
