What happens when someone dies but there's no one to bury them? Thousands of people are buried every year by their local councils, usually because they have no known family. Michael Disney is one such example. Homeless and a heroin addict, Disney was found dead in a park in Exeter. He was 30 years old and had no known relatives. His funeral was attended by a handful of friends, but mostely by council members who were paid to attend. The burial sites for people like Disney comprise of multiple graves paid for by the government. Disney's grave will ultimately hold three other bodies. The Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management said most council funerals will include a hearse, a casket, and professional mourner to lead the ceremony, running a cost of about £2,800.
