Republican Dole’s ‘Godless’ ad causes stir

Here we go again. Republicans are saying if you're against Republicans, you're against God.

And here I thought faith in God had nothing to do with a political party.

How do these supposedly church going people not understand blasphemy ? Perhaps their Bible says "Thou shalt vote for Republicans because they are the political party of God."

    • " Religion is the last refuge of the scoundrel " When you substitute the term BIG MONEY for God, then their point of view makes perfect sense. Because BIG MONEY is the only "God" these hyprocritical shitbags could ever cotton to. It's easy for power hungry yet stupid and unethical people to confuse the terms Big Money=Power=God.Yet,they are anything but virtuous and spiritual people. The 2nd Commandment expressly forbids worshiping money as God, but then I think it's important that noone delude themselves into misbelieving political opportunists to be Christians. To be Christians they would have to live their lives in honor of Christ's teachings and rebuke Big Money. That's one personal conviction they could never be accused of.

People who are good Christians should not have to tell you they believe in God. It should be obvious from their actions. Not their words, but their actions!

For many, the way they negatively campaign speaks volumes about their spiritual beliefs. I think they say one thing and do another.

For me, the lies matter! Bearing false witness matters! When is enough sins enough to disqualify candidates from using God as their own for political purposes? How many lies would it take for shame! How many false witnesses before God steps in and says, not in my name? In reality, God wont step in, its up to us. We can speak with our votes. Our votes are our voice!

Many things have been done in my name "American", which I feel brings me and America shame. I am ashamed that we did "Shock and Awe" on ordinary Iraqis, which had not done anything to America. I am ashamed that we justified torture.

    • How stupid are these people, they seem like they're really grabbing at straws... Can't we just put these people on an island or something, let them wait for the "Rapture" on the Galapagos, maybe they can convert some turtles down there...

"Under God" wasn't added in until 1954, after a campaign by the Knights of Columbus (Christian protestant group).
Reciting it says absolutely nothing about what it means to be an American. It just showcases yet another prevalent example of religion hijacking our government.
For that matter, god wasn't in our national motto until the 1950's, when it changed from "From Many, One."

America has always been a secular nation.
No stance on religion is better than any other here.
      It's what the forefathers intended.
It's why I love it so much.

    • Shame on any politician who "uses" God! God is not a political tool! I am a Democrat and God is neither Democrat or Republican.
