MI5 and MI6 have said they have intercepted more than 100 potential terrorists who posed as post-graduate students to try and gain access to laboratories to gain the materials and expertise needed to create chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear weapons, the government has confirmed.

    • hmm, it's a disturbing idea but i'm wary of these possibly statistic-based reports, since legislation means that the 'potential terrorist' label is given out all-too freely. besides, it's not all that easy getting a postgrad position and funding in a lab, especially one with sensitive research, so the idea of over 100 terrorists getting in there sounds somewhat fantastical...

    • What I don't understand is why Muslims that live in the UK and enjoy the way of life here are against the objectives of the Allied forces? I mean i disagree with the methods (war) but the concept of democracy is right and if Muslims in this country don't like democracy why do they choose to live here.

As a British born and bred citizen I condemn the war, and will not fight for or vote for a government that is involved in Iraq or Afghanistan. If the Brits and Americans had put the money so far spent on military action into humanitarian aid the world would genuinely be a better place. And we no doubt would not be having this debate.

However, I'm sure any military action carried out by UK forces will be done with genuine military objectives at its heart. Where as i see the actions of terrorists with none military objectives such as the bombings in the UK a pointless waste of their and other peoples lives.

If your going to take your own life make it count. Not breed hate for the sake of hate.

      WOW!

You're pretty brave putting yourself out there like that, "Islamic purification of other nations" and "Islam will prevail!".

Wouldn't it be great if everyone just took a step back and realised how ridiculous this all is.

I find these extremists (on both sides) so incredibly boring.

    • I don't buy it.
If this was actual fact then we the people would never be privy to said facts.
The ruling class keep their grip by issuing constant reasons to be afraid.

    • This article is beyond manipulation. OK who believes there are terrorists out to do no good? The mentally stupid young individuals who are braking in to these laboratories are animal rights activists. They are mostly students. Although now the regime can call them Terrorists, police can exercise new powers so we can all live in a safer world. Welcome to the very real macabre world. Tell me how do these terrors plan to contain and transport these toxins once they have acquired them? But of cause they must be experts in the field of biological containment. This piece of news is a joke, Why because in the last 30 years no one has broken in to a biological chemical storage facility. There is one in Russia that you would not be able to get within 1 mile of the building. I am not even going to entertain the theft of nuclear or plutonium material.

Government considers plans to build a new pathogen research facility in central London? Yes and my name is G W Bush.
