Zimbabwe will release a $1 million note this week to ease the efffects of hyperinflation. In August, the country had $100 billion notes. Currently, the highest note has a value of $50,000. One of these notes is not enough to buy a half loaf of bread.

Currently, $1,000,000 is equal to eight US dollars.

    • There is no need to continue behind the old man and his cronies for all its worth ,,Let the new blood continue with the struggles remaining ,,,otherwise this old hood stubbornnesses will kill more people than it wants to save. In fact there will be no one to inherit the Land Mugabe has so far recovered. The few who will remain will be keen to share the land with other people from various parts of the world. God designed old age to come of age ,,no one can change that. People are putting views and analysis of Zimbabwe, Africa and all sorts of Mind stimulating thesis about economies of Zim....please the point is clear that The Natural Disaster must come to an end.

    • This because the other countries are not buying anything from Africa countries. If we all invest in Africa and trade with them, they would be doing alot better.

    • they actually did reset the value of their money a month or two ago. But they are in hyperinflation, currently, according to the article, at 230 MILLION percent. the inflation in the US is somewhere arount 3%,

    • Can't they just start the number system over? Just push reset. The numbers sound ridiculous, but couldn't just as well say a million dollars equals 100 dollars. I don't know, the whole thing is just screwed.

    • I wonder how long it takes someone on their minimum wage to work for one of those bills. Or just how much their minimum wage is.

    • The only reason something like this can happen is because none of our money is real. Once upon a time there was a gold standard. Fiat money has collapsed every government that has clung to it in the course of human history.

Thank you. It is what will happen to us if we continue to print money out of thin air. Think about it......100 years ago if you had a million dollars you were the cream of the crop...now a millionare comes a dime a dozen. All of a sudden we got Billionares.....hmmmmmm whatz next after that. you get my point. Watch Zeitgist:Addendum for more info....sorry if not spelled right.

    • well at least they've improved from $100 billion...

I guess in the end, once hyperinflation gets this high, they can only reset the prices from here.

    • Their TVs shows must be a bit of a let down. Imagine winning 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" over there.
