    • Stereotyping 300 million plus people as any one thing is retarded and inaccurate.

      Define "world".

      Define "America".

      Define "less arrogant".

What a stupid blanket statement. Anyone who has nothing more important than nationalism to identify and attack others with is a fool and/or loser in my book.

That's not an arrogant statement because I'm an American, that's a legitimate position based on judging people by their individual behavior not blindly generalized labels.

    • I hate to burst the bubble but predicting the world will open up to the United States because of Barack
Obama is almost as arrogant as the prediction that going into Iraq would be easy.

I reference the link which comes from the Germany newspapers directly that were not happy with the message Barack brought to the country.

Don't believe the hype, your world will not change dramatically because of the President, no matter who they are!

Well you got a fight now!! J/K I can't stand our government but then again I have a small international business, so I am always frustrated with them.

We can't use the World's opinion of us by which to gauge our situation. I agree with you but how can we ever be confident of anything with our people so divided? I think we are too quick to deny our past & forget what brought us here.

    • Arrogance/Confidence, there's a fine line.

Our founding fathers were called arrogant by the entire world because they were tired of a king.

The most arrogant people in the US are those who think their "freedom of speech" is protected by ink and paper, it's really protected by the "right to bear arms."

    • Promise me people, that you will do something November 5th in protest if the election is actually rigged. I personally make the pledge, here and now, to take this to my local City Hall and make my voice heard as loudly as possible. I promise to cause civil unrest, disrupt daily activity, and piss off the minority in my way as I do my best to make sure that the person who won the popular vote gets in to office.
The voice of the populace needs to be obeyed.
If they know we wont stand up and demand it, like we didn't do in 2000, they will indeed get away with the final stake in the heart of Democracy. If we stand up and make some REAL noise, noise they can't turn off, they will have to pay attention. Be that noise! I promise to have your back, at least in Portland Oregon. if you don't get off your computer and get mad in the streets, you have no right to say you even tried, imo. Don't just sit there, DO SOMETHING.

Regardless of political affiliation, it should be easy to see that Obama is clearly at least slightly arrogant. This does not mean he'll be a bad leader, necessarily, but there is no doubt he often goes over the top and it shows.

Oh that's rich. Because I'm so blindfolded. I find both Obama and McCain to be disappointing candidates. However, the hype Obama has received is ridiculous. He is not our savior. If you think that he (or McCain) will turn around this nation so that we're on significantly better ground as a nation and loved by the rest of the world, you're the one with the blindfold on too tight.

    • Being in this country and witnessing all of this is AMAZING !!! I cried this morning when I saw so many people in line waiting for their opportunity to cast their VOTE, their private moment to express ENOUGH is ENOUGH and as an AMERICAN CITIZEN, I will do my part to let the world know that we care for our future and also theirs, because today AMERICA makes history again !!!!

He does seem like a decent guy.

Is he going to bring enough change, though? Does he have it in him to fight against the powers that be with enough tenacity to actually get shit done. To be an advocate for the American people?

    • Perception is one of the biggest issues in relations. The world's perception of America is bleak. While it is obvious that we aren't all arrogant, generally, our government officals are, and that's what counts right now.

If we see Obama in office, it's almost a guarantee that our relationsips and economy will change. The world will want to work with us (and possibly start buying our products again).

      GObama!

    • I'm proud of America right now.

Record-breaking voter turn-out. And overall, it seems like people are very involved in this election, especially the young voters.

Obama is a great start to bringing America's collective mind-frame to that of the rest of the world's. The failing economy has also contributed to a humbling of Americans as we no longer can call ourselves the "top dogs" or Mavericks.... ahem.

    • America is fat, arrogant, and ignorant. This bubble was bound to burst, but Bush and Cheney did it in spectacular fashion. Can we recoup? Well, Obama is the right start, but I doubt he can do it all in 4 years.

We are a democracy. We are as much at fault as those we elect, if not more so. If we allow the new regime to abuse us like we allowed the last to, and if we stand by an do nothing like we did with the last, we deserve what the world gives us.

Hold these people responsible. They work for us.

So does that mean you are fat, arrogant, and ignorant? If so, then how can you possibly be so arrogant and ignorant as to call millions of people, many of whom are undoubtedly far more capable than you, such things?

I'm in exceptionally good shape (former underwear model even), I have a genius IQ, and I'm probably one of the most considerate and compassionate people you've never met....and yet I'm an American. So where the fuck do such ignorant blanket statements come from?

Don't you find that a bit ironic?

    • Bye bye Bush! Here's another article about what the world expects from Bush's successor, particularly in his dealing with Guantanamo, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan and the war on terror.
