    • I'm proud to call myself a Floridian again. Its great to see progressivism starting to pick up steam in Florida. I felt bad for gay couples but I always knew that it would be a matter of time before their rights were finally affirmed.

The picture is quite moving, there is nothing better than to see good triumph over adversity and hate.

    • Whoo Hoo!! That's one for humanity! No person deserves to be less equal and no child deserves to be alone. As a foster parent, I know that a very high percentage of foster kids are LGBTQ themselves, and some are teens who have been thrown out by their birth families because of their orientation.

All foster kids have been abused or seriously neglected in order to be brought into the system. They should not be neglected by the community because the potential parents are not of the Right!

If we have to ban anyone from raising children, how about narrow, hateful, fascist religious zealots who are determined to create a hateful world.

    • I am a proud Floridian. Hate for any group has to end. Progress is being made though way too slow. The way I look at it, if I was a child, I would rather be raised by the Gay and Lesbian groups than some of the ignorant, redneck, stupid people of the world. They are probably more caring due to their struggles.

    • Good news. Homosexual equality is going to be a tough battle, though. If history provides any guidance, gay rights, like all other civil rights, will be opposed on most every state and local level, only to be supported at the federal/constitutional level after a long battle.

    • I've never really understood why, Republicans, who generally want less government involvement in their lives, want the government to ban homosexual civil unions and marriages. Come on church goers either we have separation of church and state or we don't. No one wants a sanctioned church as the church of the Americas. Therefore, your beliefs should not become the law of the land in issues like this. Making laws that state marriages are between a man and a woman is ludicrous. Because there are marriages between men and marriages between women, you cannot legislate something that is spiritual. My wife and I said our vows to each other long before we stood in front of a minister.

The basic beliefs of Christian religion or what Jesus taught is love and forgiveness. Why then do you think you have a right to meddle in others lives and force your views on other segments of society? All they want is to be equal under the law and since our constitution states all men are created equal, that means all men (and women). What about that do you not understand?

Whether a man wants a marriage with another man has absolutely nothing to do with anyone but those two men. Same with women. Keep your sanctimonious upturned noses out of others business.

BTW, I am a Republican male, happily in a heterosexual marriage for the past 25 years. Ain't times a changin?

    • Are you paying attention California?

      UNCONSTITUTIONAL...

that’s a word you should get real familiar with. The California Supreme Court will explain the meaning soon enough….

    • excellent! after being dissapointed by a bittersweet general election, with all the hate propositions being signed into law, this stuff gives me hope that there is some santity and compassion in this nation, and that we wont have to wait for the old gaurd to die out before gay rights are guaranteed.

    • woot!! Something to be truly thankful for this thanksgiving. And from a state like florida.... one victory at a time!

Congratulations to every gay couple who wants to adopt!! Raising children is really a blessing, and I know from how hard you have worked to be able to have this responsibility and equality means you will be great parents!!

    • how many times do laws banning same sex marriage and same sex adoption have to be declared unconstitutional before the fanatics against gay marriage pick up a copy of the constitution (or simply look up "unconstitutional" in a dictionary, for that matter) to learn why they are doing nothing but spreading hate and divisiveness and wasting money?

    • I hope this sends a message of hope to every gay couple who have been prohibited from adoption. Arkansas should be next to take this hate proposition off of their state law.

    • Thank god I can be proud to live in this state. After we voted yes on amendment 2 (which in fl was to keep the marriage between man and women, rediculous) It nice to see that we realize that sexual orintation shouldn't judge whether you would be a good parent. There are so many familyless children out there, and so many terrible heterosexual parents, why wouldn't we want those children adopted by decent people who want them! These children grow up think noone wants them, why would any state put a ban on people wanting to adopt children, regardless of sexual orientation. Yay Florida!

    • ''Based on the evidence presented from experts from all over this country and abroad,'' Lederman wrote, ``it is clear that sexual orientation is not a predictor of a person's ability to parent. Sexual orientation no more leads to psychiatric disorders, alcohol and substance abuse, relationship instability, a lower life expectancy or sexual disorders than race, gender, socioeconomic class or any other demographic characteristic."

      Phenomenal.

    • That's one for the good guys. One day the fear, the hatred, and the homophobia will come to an end. The bottom line is children need love, they need a family, they need parents. Sexual orientation does not impact quality of character or fitness to parent. This is a victory not only for civil rights, but children's rights as well.
