Why's that police man wearing a sleep mask? No wonder the wrong people can end up getting shot!

Ever notice how militarized the police in the UK and US and may be much of the world have become? If it weren't for the "POLICE" lettering on the man's uniform, he would look just like a black OPS military or military police person. 1984 anyone?

Modern police in all countries have been trained in a number of different tactics for different situations. Negotiating isn't the most fun tactic of choice though - and inaccurate information can lead to the uneffective use of firepower if an organized force isn't moving with their heads on their shoulders.

Well I was on that train this morning and all I saw were a few professional looking and polite police officers asking if there had been a disturbance on the carriage at Thornton Heath, there was certainly no storming of the train nor dragging people off the carriage.
Emmahill you sound like you need to get out a little more, how in the name of God would you know what the purpose of that operation was? - 3 years ago

Scary. Can't imagine what it would be like to come across something like that on my morning commute. I guess the police will be jumpy about using their triggers now though, which is a good thing.

Maybe it was a art performance? Or not...
Is there an armed police unit based in South London or something? Clapham Common station isn't too far from Stockwell, the scene of the Jean Charles de Menezes shooting.

You're more likely to get run over walking in or fall down the stairs at home.

The purpose of this operation is to scare the hell out of the civilians and make them believe they are fighting terrorist.
The results, give away your civil rights and you become a slave, this whole thing is a psychological
terror.
People should be more affraid of criminal on the streets than the freaking terrorist.
I remember when I was a kid my parents they used to tell me if you dont behave the boogey man is going to get you at the begining it work but after a while nope.
The goverment is doing the same the boogey man is Alqeada and they want you to be affraid 24/7.
Think about it. - 3 years ago
