    • Been reading Ad-Busters from the beginning. Great idea, but poor application. Go ahead and spend your hard earned dollars on their "black-spot" shoes. But realize they are raking in the dollars the whole time. Just notice how slick their magazine is next to a real counter culture magazine like say Mother Earth News looks. Way too much production value and cost for anyone truly serious about consumer change. Is it really lost on everyone that without the consumer Ad-Buster never exists?

Yeah I know that includes me also, but I laugh at the irony of their campaigns and message. If everyone was counter culture they would logically be the first thing to go. RFLMAO.

    • Why not got back to old custom of giving something from the heart? We used to only buy things for those low down on our lists and hand made or at least hand picked items to match our closest friends and families favorite activities.

Most people now of days don't have that hobby that gives them something useful at the end. Instead, they watch tv, do video games etc. THey think of homemade as trash but my most treasured pieces are the handmade quilts or woodworked sets from family members that are no longer with us. These gifts made with love stand the test of time.

    • Hahaha PERFECT.

I'm actually HAPPY about this economic disaster. It makes people wary of spending money they don't even have for extra crap they don't need.

Lee crap, less production of crap, less environmental degradation.

      I'm stoked.

    • I have a better idea.

We are a small "handmade in America" business that makes things consumers don't need in order to live. (We don't sell medical care, energy, food, etc.). We used to make a very comfortable living making what we make, used to employ six other people in fact, but times are getting pretty tough today. How about instead of buying a bunch of foreign-made crap for gifts this Christmas, buying American-made quality? We know several wooden toy makers who don't use any lead in any of their toys, and hundreds of talented people who make thousands of unique, high quality, beautiful and utilitarian products.

This guy is a goof but his points are vaild. The SUVs, the Playstations, the "Tickle me Elmos" are the golden calves that we worship nowadays. Why is it so important to have the latest Wii? Or a TV in your backseat? Americans have forgotten how to be thankful for what they have.

    • Our commercialism is consuming us. There will not be enough response to this event to affect the economy but the message is important. We need to think about our consumerism, especially when our dollars go to Chinese made goods sold at international corporate stores. The labor is slave labor and the profits go to the very investor class that caused this recession.

Buy local, fair trade, and preferably hand made goods by your neighbor.
