shrooms are wonderful and have a great spiritual effect it is lame! What the hell is going on in Holland? All of a sudden the government is out to ban recreational drugs! They are bending to the pressure from the EU! This is an example that the concept of the EU is bad stripping away national idenity and individuality! When Holland tried this in the 80's the crime wave sored! Banning recreational drugs therefore is not the answer! Make drugs legal and let people decide for themselves!

What a shame. I was in Amsterdamn at a mushroom shop once. The retailer took great measure to make sure the mushrooms he sold were the right ones for the customer. If they were inexperienced, they got weaker ones. He explained dosages clearly and expected results. Now the dutch will be like the U.S. A lot more dangerous.

How unfortuneate. Governments always seem to be against substances that split our egos and let us see deeper into what it means to be ourselves, what it means to be human. Look at the past with the 60's-70's LSD culture boom, then the banning of the substance after atrocities like the Manson murders. Though, I dont see anyone using shrooms for that kind of manipulation, so why the ban?!

Even though they have made it illegal, it will still be readily available. Take a walk through the streets of Amsterdam on any given day and you'll be offered a variety of illegal drugs.

Holland do not fall under the pressure of the EU. If Britain can still use pounds for their currency, you can still use recreational drugs.

This is crap. Come on Holland! I'm in favor of mushrooms and one of them sent me into a full-blown quiet freakout when I visited Amsterdam. Just because I can't hold my fungi doesn't mean others can't.

The one drug that has been scientifically proven to induce phenomenal spiritual experiences is being marginalized by the only government that once recognized the mental health benefits of the personal use of psilocybin mushrooms. They are a powerful substance that should be regulated not outlawed. This mushroom has been used by humans for millions of years and we have coevolved with it, which is why we have specific neuroreceptors activated only by psilocybin. We need to recognize the healing power of the mind over the body and realize that the way to heal the mind is through psychotherapeutic substances such as psilocybin.
