Beer is cheaper than water in UK supermarkets

Own-brand cans of lager sell for as little as 23p in Britain's supermarkets, according to the drink and drug charity Addaction. That means that adjusted in relative terms, alcohol is 70% more affordable than in 1980. This, combined with the credit crunch, doesn't bode well for "Boozy Britain."
