Barely hours since reports came through that five 9/11 suspects at Guantanamo Bay have offered to confess to their crimes, the offer has now been withdrawn after a judge told them that a confession may spare them the death penalty. "Are you saying if we plead guilty we will not be able to be sentenced to death?" asked Khalid Sheik Mohammed, the self-proclaimed operational mastermind of the attacks, at a pretrial hearing.

Don't terrorists hate it when their plans of martyrdom are foiled?
