Bush on Al Qaeda not existing in Iraq before invasion: "So what"

Yesterday, after an Iraqi journalist used “[t]wo of the worst insults in Islam” against him, an unfazed President Bush sat down with ABC’s Martha Raddatz for an exit interview in Iraq. When Raddatz asked Bush about his legacy, Bush first boasted about “52 months of uninterrupted job growth.” (There have been 1.9 million jobs lost in 2008 alone.)

Bush then turned to Iraq, and justified the war there by suggesting it had been al Qaeda’s home base. When Raddatz corrected him, Bush dismissively replied, “So what?“:

    • It is entirely legal to impeach a president even after he leaves office, and I think the only way for us to clear our national conscience is to make sure that happens. Try this peice of shit as a war criminal.

      History will not be kind to that rat-bastard. I just wish there were more punishment for someone with such terrible judgment and ability to wreck young lives by fighting in a country we had no business invading.

      1. The US helped Saddam gain power in Iraq
      2. Democracy? Is that the answer to help solve the problem in the Middle East? Yet, when you allow a democracy, you allow people from Al Queda to be voted into power and help create tensions between the Sunnis and Shiites. Does it seem like democracy is working?

      a) the world is NOT better off without saddam. Saddam was a regional power that checked Iran. In other words, they took care of each other and kept each other balanced. Now we have to very large, majority shia, extremely pissed off at the west nations. in US security alone we've failed.

      b) iran had democracy, and we assassinated the leader. palestine had democracy, and we pushed the prime minister to dissolve the government. Saudi Arabia is a monarchy, and a brutal one, that has created more terrorists than most nations and we're allied to them.

    • If the shoe heard around the world incident hadn't happened this should of been the dominate story, cause I believe we were told thats one big reason we were in Iraq in the first place to fight Al Queda. You know when they keep changing the reason like weapons of mass destruction, freedom cause Iraq needs to be free.

    • It's just a sad site to see Bush shrugging off the fact that the only reason why the war on terror was fought in Iraq, was because we were in Iraq. One day I hope he realizes how big of a stain he has left in this nations history.

      Actually I was asking when the 52 months of job growth because I thought that the job growth might have just been an enormous effect from the previous presidents policies, if the 52 months of job growth had been during his first 52 months in office.

      Could you imagine that? Wouldn't it be pathetically hilarious if Clinton created an economic and job environment that was so strong that it took Bush 52 months to demolish it?
