A one-year-old boy was kept alive by wild cats while living rough on the streets. The cats snuggled up with him during freezing nights that would otherwise have killed him, doctors believe.

The ordeal mirrors Jungle Book character Mowgli.

    • Me too! My first thought was Gizmo. Damn you, science. Where are our flying cars and our Mogwai without dietary restrictions!

      For the story itself, it's sad that we disregard animals as unintelligent creatures, when they're perfectly capable of showing the same compassion and caring that we idealize. You almost want to anthropomorphise this, but maybe there's something behind it. This isn't the first situation of a child being protected and nurtured by animals. Maybe there's some particular hormone or smell that babies put off that causes a biological reaction of this type.
