Suspected U.S. missile strikes killed at least eight people Monday in volatile northwest Pakistan, officials and witnesses said.
Bakht Janan, a local security official at a check post, said an unmanned drone aircraft began circling over the village of Kari Khel around 3 a.m., then fired missiles at two vehicles several hours later. Witnesses told The Associated Press that one of the vehicles had been blasting away with an anti-aircraft gun at the drone.

Four people were killed as missiles hit the vehicle and an adjacent, fortlike house, while four others died and one was injured in the second vehicle five miles (eight kilometers) away by dirt track.

Janan said an unexploded missile was found on the ground near the first vehicle.

Yar Mohammad, a villager, said local Taliban pulled out bodies from the rubble while cordoning off the scene about 10 miles south of Wana, the main town in the South Waziristan tribal area near the Afghan border.

    • Do people really care? I mean I think this is news but mainstream media doesn't want this on the front pages. And in other news the Giants won in overtime over the Carolina Panthers!

    • I starting to fall under the idea of "total warfare", where as- if we have to go to war, if we have to send OUR American troops to war, then we have to hit whoever we are targeting as hard as humanly possible. Our troops should not be on the ground until all of these terrorist supporting countries are leveled. You don't like war? Too bad, I don't either. But instead of ending a war with force like we have in the past, we are pussyfooting around, letting these terrorists have hope and ability to make us look bad, dragging ourselves deeper, and giving potential for more life lost. America is not weak- yet articles like this make us out to be the bad guy. Whether we have other agendas or not, we as Americans can not stand aback and allow our troops to be stuck in this half ass war on terror while we pussyfoot. War is not going away, it never has and it never will. Let these countries know that if they can't get rid of terrorists then they will die too. I'm sure that motivation will either let them cave to our help, or do it themselves first.

    • While the missile strikes have killed scores of militants, Pakistani officials have criticized them as an infringement of its sovereignty and say they undermine their own war on terror.

This statement seems out of line as the Pakistani's should welcome any assistance in the fight on terror. I guess time will tell what their real stance on America and terror really is.
