Biden sounds like hes doing this Job Part Time

Joe Biden is laying plans to significantly shrink the role of the vice presidency in Barack Obama’s White House, according to an official familiar with his thinking.

It’s not just that Biden won’t sit in on Senate Democrats’ weekly caucus meetings - a privilege Republicans afforded outgoing Vice President Dick Cheney. He won’t have an office outside the House floor, as House Speaker Dennis Hastert gave Cheney early on.

Biden will not begin every day with his own intelligence briefing before sitting in on the president’s. He will not always be the last person Obama speaks to before making a decision.

He also will not, as a transition official calls it, operate a "shadow government" within an Obama administration.

One of the few ways he will resemble Cheney is in making clear his future ambitions, or lack thereof: Biden doesn’t expect to run for president after leaving the vice presidency, according to a transition source who was not authorized to speak on the record.

    • He'll probably serve under Hillary Clinton too. He probably should. This is safe politics. Biden tends to shoot his mouth off alittle too much sometimes.

    • Biden should hire a priest to come into the VP's house and perform an exorcism to remove the demons left over from the Cheney's living there. that place has gotta be like the Amityville Horror house after those evil bastards spent 8 years there

    • With Dick Cheney as the measuring stick almost anyone would look like an improvement. In all seriousness it doesn’t matter if Biden decides to shrink the role of the vice presidency. The US government, with or without a super sized vice president, will continue to be a bloated and hopelessly flawed monster.

Go ahead and applaud this guy all you want but don’t forget he has no plans to restore the civil liberties stolen by the previous administration. By that measure he doesn’t stand apart from the previous dick.

    • Biden is going to play the role like any self-respecting Democrat, by staying home, doing nothing and collecting a healthy paycheck. God Bless America!!

    • Looks like he is already retired, and just keeping an eye on the temp senator from his home domain. After all when his ( Joe Biden's ) son gets back from the tour in Iraq, he will take over the family business. And not a word will be said about the son's ability to serve ( and collect a really healthy pay check, along w/ Hefty updates and all the privileges of being a sitting senator in the US.

Oh yeah, none of the folks complaining about Carollne Kennedy's ability to take over the New York seat her illustrious uncle Bobby once held, will complain about "junior" Biden not being qualified. She is at least as qualified as any 2nd generation politician.

We have at long last created ( procreated in some cases) a "Political Class" in this country. Tho that is not at all what the founding fathers wanted.

We have a whole lot of children of "Privilege" who may or not be qualified to do the job. Nonetheless, no one challenges them. No healthy opposition arises when one of these kids wants to take over the family business.

Joe Biden is giving his son a leg up, and one that will make him wealthy in short order. Isn't that odd?

    • And it could be political smoke, anyone think of that or are you too busy bashing Cheney for what the media said he did. The media also told us that Iraq was all Bush and all those poor politicians like H. Clinton, Kennedy, Kerry, etc were just manipulated by Bush and they really didn't vote for going into Iraq. Well, they did vote for going into Iraq with guns blazing, but they didn't really because they were manipulated, right? Mean old Bush with his Spok like mental powers to mind meld with them and take away their ability to reason and think.

Don't ya just love politics? Some can actually make us believe that, yes, they did vote for going into Iraq, but they didn't really vote for going into Iraq because they were manipulated into voting for going by Bush. They say that enough and everyone starts to believe it. Then they can come out and say they never voted for military intervention. The only way Bush could send troops into the country was with congressional approval and it was unanimous, except for one vote. Wonder who are the manipulators now, and who did they manipulate?

Look at the posts above and you might guess.

    • Wow, maybe Biden smarter than Igor think. Although not charactoristic from what Igor percieve as very overconfident Biden. Maybe he realize limitation and "keep away from screwing thing up"?
