Massive demonstration in Tel Aviv by Israeli and Arab people on Saturday

The killing in Gaza continues. Hundreds have been killed, thousands injured, air-strikes have caused utter devastation and entire families are left homeless.
Civilians in the south of Israel are being held captive by a government which lies to them and abuses them. Destruction and death in Gaza will not ensure their future, but rather lead to more violence and killings.
Join us in protest this coming Saturday, 3.1.2009, in Tel aviv. Together we will call out:
Stop the Killing! No to the Siege! Yes to life for both peoples!
In these dark days, let us stick to our message:
Jews and Arabs refuse to be enemies!
Our demand: A full truce and the lifting of the siege on Gaza NOW!
We meet at the corner of Frishman St. and Khen Boulevard at 18:30
* Information about transportation from across the country will be published shortly.
Please note: For the past week mass arrests have been carried out amongst Palestinian citizens of Israel who are exercising their democratic right to protest. On Saturday, at 13:00, before the Tel Aviv demonstration, a mass protest rally will be held in Sakhnin by the High Committee of Arab Israelis against the killing in Gaza. Please make an effort to join – your presence is of the essence!
Already on Friday, Jan. 2, at 14.00, there will be a Women Against the War demo in Haifa, at the corner of HaGefen and Al Jabel (Hatzionut)
all numbers are in Israel:

A Solution to The Gaza Israel War................
Yes, it is both sides that are wrong, but you cannot say the Palestinians can just sit there and do nothing while Israel prevented much food and medical supplies for nearly two years prior to all this.
Palestinians were becoming quite frustrated as well as starving and in desperate need of medicine.
Throwing rockets indiscriminately into Israel was not right of course, but what are they to do to fight this collective punishment by starving the population? Israel deliberately set the stage for this war to happen.
Solution:
*Israel and Hamas completely stop the violence
*The US with the UN and Arab League form a joint cooperative temporary 'de facto' government
*Israel and the de facto team build a neutral security force on the borders, opening the borders to humanitarian and food supplies
*Rebuild infrastructure, schools, Universities and Mosques
*De facto government holds elections and considers Hamas social wing (not militant wing) to be involved
and finally,
*build Palestine into a legal, working state
I'd like to also add that Palestine should have some of their land back that was taken illegally.
I'd love to hear some more potential solutions

I'm not in favor of war and as is I can't be in favor of Hamas, they're constantly looking for conflict and trying to get Israel's people hurt. This attack is not against Gaza but against Hamas, stop misinforming...

Lots of protests in Europe as well. Here in the Netherlands there were thousands of people protesting in Amsterdam. They blame the Dutch government of not denouncing Israel's behavior.

That reaction over there is a very good sign. I hope the two sides involved can understand each other and realize that war sucks... and peace is far better.
Both have to stop what hurts the other side. It seems one side will stop, then the other takes advantage, and everything starts up again. A stupid cycle. Possibly now they understand that peace is better?

Sooner or later Israel is going to have to become part of the civilized world and learn to coexist with other people besides Jews, just like America and the rest of the world. The American people are getting tired of paying taxes to support the Israel violence and killing of innocent people. It is time for America to stop supporting Israel, Americans don't want to pay for this stoneage barbaric people's little island. From the sound of this article the young people are beginning to lead the way to a better way of life for all involved. Somehow Isreal must become intergrated with the rest of humanity there is no room for a choosen few in the world today. It has to stop and sooner or later Israel will pay for thier injustice towards anyone who does not agree with them. It is time for israel to be brought to bear responsibley for thier crimes against humanity just like Bush and Co should be.

It's nice to see at least some people have their priorities straight.
Perhaps these lowly demonstrators should be put into positions of power in the governments of both sides?
If I ran the game, it would sure be fun to try.
Just assign a "peace-minded" person to be "work buddies" with all the idiots in charge that are responsible for the nonsense and killing.

I do not understand why so many people fail to see that the water policy of Israel in this region has only added to the current conditions there. How can you have peace when most of the water is taken by one party and others are denied it and only given the excrement? When you bulldoze land and do not allow wells to be dug to even farm land for food?
If the countries of the Middle East meaning Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Israel, and Palestine ( the occupied territories) came together in a serious consortium to work out an equitable water policy that addresses population, climate change, and waste allowing the West Bank and Gaza Strip to have water to farm and grow their own food, I do believe you might see a great decline in violence.
Self determination cannot happen without water. The people in the Gaza Strip are the most hard hit regarding water. It seems logical to me that if they had water which allowed them to farm to grow their own food to live it would give them an opportunity to have a somewhat normal life and they might not think to fire rockets. It certainly would be a better way than bombing people into a submission that does nothing to further progress on any side.

Hamas are the terrorists. The international community has declared hamas a terrorist organization. Hamas is firing rockets at Israeli towns in violation of international laws and common decency.
Israel is responding. Israel is attacking an internationally recognized terrorist organization. 85% of the deaths in Gaza are hamas terrorists. Those are amazingly good numbers. Only a small number of civilians are dying.
Everyone -- US, Australian, France, the UN, Egypt, and the Palestinian Authority, etc. -- agrees that hamas acted stupidly. People that denounce Israel in this war, are like hamas -- stupid.

You are welcome...I just woke up and continue to see the new pictures of innocent children being murdered. Israel has absolutely no respect for human life. This is so sad.
I understand there are going to be bigger and more demonstrations all over the world against Israels government and to demand a cease fire and to bring back the needed supplies to make people live. These supplies have been cut off for almost 2 years, which is why the Palestinians are fighting Israel..they could not live anymore and would die if they did not stand up for basic human rights-and that is the right to live.

All people should stand up for peace.
Peace begins when people refuse to choose sides. As long as people want to make either Israel or Palestinians the villain, they only encourage and foster a continuation of violence.
Many people on current have a naive and simple minded view that makes Israel wrong and Palestine right. This is a mistake. Both parties are at fault. To claim otherwise is an error in critical thinking,

What makes you think that there will ever be peace without JUSTICE.
The only thing that the Palestinians are guilty of is standing for their basic human rights, and standing up against tyranny.
How in the HELL can you watch the truth and still say that you don't believe it. You seem to be greatly disturbed by the fact that the Palestinians refuse to live as second class citizens.

Thank you, wptv... more people need to see this, need to feel this... I am grateful to witness the courage of these people, under such great oppression (wihtin and without) to be fighting for peace with peace, and finding a path to be doing it together..
I won't appologize for posting this link again...
'whitenoise' posted this at http://current.com/items/89668817/israel_rejects_calls_for_ceasefire_in_gaza.htm, which I was grateful to have come across, and wish to share here. I feel we owe it to ourselves, especially those of us here in the US, to seek to be better educated and to really give more thought to why, and how, we support Israel in the way we do, than to simply give over to prejudices instilled by our daily dose of poisoned boob-tube feeding by the 'establishment-supporting-media'.Think people, think, and try harder to do it with your hearts open - your heart can be such a great teacher.

@unimatrix0 "....we need both sides of the story - by showing only...."
Thank you for your reply. I tend to agree, we do well to be more careful to explore and present as unbiasedly as we can, and maybe this isn't it; however, in the dearth of balanced media, and with severe bias in the US (where I live), I found this insightful and healthy to have viewed "the other side of the coin". Maybe not a great call, but maybe it offers more than nothing... I see it stirred up interesting and concerned responses - I think it cannot hurt, and maybe even is a better thing than no-thing.
