Struggling schools will be given finely tuned advice on what is going wrong in their classes and why students aren't paying attention.

First, criticizing Teachers, in my views, it is just pointing the gun at the wrong target or as they say, "Some are barking at the wrong tree." If we talking about America, one needs to look at the Educational structure of the American Educational System that it is in my personal opinion, a serious issue of National concern. Sincerely I cannot comment on the UK model because I am not there. But I can assure that teachers will do great if the system would give them the latest tools to play with it. Concerning the students, they have been so over stimulated by TV and games and little aware of the work that it takes to produce these products giving them a wrong idea of whom should act "when" and "where." Their simplistic attitude is, "I am bored, entertain me!" when in reality they are the ones that should create their own entertainment or try to interpret what is on the menu.

Maybe schools will realize that their 90% of their students don't have ADHD and that the teachers are just boring.

Then there are some teachers that think having fun means doing spellamadoodles and 150 word charts over a holiday weekend. They also think its fun to make you read a book thinking there is a project due but then finals come around you have read the book and there is no final.... sooo stupid I have had a teacher like this. She also for public speaking makes them do "vocal warm ups" which consists of singing, and pretending to be animals.... I'll stick with the boring teachers thank you very much....

With kids raised on TV, it's no surprised that they have a low tolerance for boredom. I guess the ideal teacher for the attention deprived would dance around a lot, wear bright colors, and act and talk in a cartoonish way.

This seems like a sign of the times... this generation has grown up in a heavily mediated, fast-paced world largely dominated by entertainment industry. It's no wonder that children feel understimulated in traditional classroom settings. But blaming it all on boring teachers? I think that goes a bit far. Perhaps schools should be rethinking their curriculum to be more accommodating to students.

I guess there's is no shortage of discussion about the need for students to become engaged in the process of learning. Indeed, teachers are urged to develop classroom strategies representing constructivist approaches to create student-centered learning environments. But surely content over entertainment value. I wonder what the exact criteria it is that these inspectors are looking for.
