Red Cross: Gaza in 'full-blown' humanitarian crisis

This is a tame version of the on going humanitarian crisis in Gaza. You don't have to use your imagination to figure out what has transpired i the last couple of years since the siege started and now the war. Right now, people, especially children, are dying waiting for medical supplies, clean water is hard to get and food is scarce. Israel is committing some of the most serious war crimes I have seen..imo and many millions around the world's opinion.

the story:

GENEVA (AP) —

The international Red Cross says Gaza is now in a "full-blown" humanitarian crisis.

International Committee of the Red Cross head of operation Pierre Kraehenbuehl says the situation for Palestinian civilians is "extreme and traumatic as a result of 10 days of uninterrupted fighting."

He says ICRC staff in Gaza told the neutral body Tuesday that the previous night was "the most frightening of all to date" on account of the ground offensive Israel has launched in the Palestinian territory.

Kraehenbuehl told journalists in Geneva the number of civilians killed or injured is increasing.

He says fragile power supplies could collapse at any moment leaving 500,000 people without clean water and at risk of disease.

    • Why cant we all just be friends? Seriously, I dont think there is a God that condones such activities and I cant believe there are people that do. I dont support either. Hamas is wrong and so is Israel, granted they are wrong for different reasons. This is ridiculous and something needs to be done. Its just like the Russia-Georgia incident when Georgia went about bombing Ossetian schools and homes. I realize that Israel cant target Hamas better than they already are...but that should not justify killing civilians.

    • data...do you realize that everything you say is to the effect of killing humans? i mean if you cannot go in and get the specific person yourself...you are a coward. and i think the video is made to try to make israel look so blameless!

      why are palestinians living in abject poverty? not since hamas took over, but forever since the original theft? why are there refugee camps? why are arab towns even to this day being removed within the borders of israel so jewish settlers can move there? why were the homes built in gaza bulldozed when people need good housing all over in gaza? so they would have anything decent to live in? are you serious? israel is terrorizing them to get them as you yourself said....to leave and move to jordan or egypt. israel is a genital wart on the earths asshole!! and you seem to want to spread the disease!!

    • seriously Dataminded.. do you want peace with the palestinian people or ethnic cleaning? do you wand a 2 state solution or do you want to oppress the palestinians until they leave their land?

      if you want peace, do you think it is with violence and humiliation that Israel will be accepted by its neigbor ?

      She is clouded by her emotions.

      I'm sure she is a nice person when she is calm but she is in panic mode and it is sad to see.

      The disturbing part is that she seem quite intelligent just entirely misguided and angry.

      Her lack of caring for innocent children (both sides) that have been victimized has undermined any point that she may have had.

      It is a shame. This board could use a sober, calm intelligent voice to help make sense of this mess from a Pro-Israeli stand point.

      I have yet to hear one and so all I can see is a nation that is behaving worse than the people they complain about.

      She is weakening support for her own cause with her behavior.

      I feel so helpless. How much more can this world take? I am sending a donation to Doctors Without Borders and asking it to go for supplies to help people in Gaza that need medical attention. I don't know what else to do. I have already called my senators to express my feelings on this, though we all know that humanity is not the side they stand on, but the side of power and money. I too believe that children are being deliberately targeted. This is not a war against Hamas, this is a war against the entire population of Gaza and as such is a war crime. No people should tolerate their government targeting children with bombs. And anyone who does is a hateful vile piece of scum. And thank you for posting this. It is the humanitarian crisis we need to know about. I hope governments around the world condemn this loudly and hold both Hamas and the Israeli government responsible for what is now taking place.

      Doctors Without Borders is a reputable non partisan organization. None of the money you donate will wind up in any government's hands.That is why I support them. They go wherever help is needed and do not look at skin color, religion, or politics in doing what needs to be done to save innocent lives. I highly recommend them.

      united Palestinian Appeal and they too are doing a great job...but doctors without borders are the one to point to as of now...I have not checked out the money flow from helpupa yet, but they do a heckuva lot of work.
      The recent missile attack on two schools is totally an attack on civilians there, cnn just did some excellent questioning of a lady Israeli spokesperson that was visably shaken..not by the killling of inocent people, but by the questions!
      Israle needs to pay for these war crimes, and there is a growing number of people all over the world that will make sure of this by bringing it thru governments and courts.
      May God Save Palestine's Innocent People

      I agree, he needs to make a statement..but he may be showing his true cards, and I believe it is AGAINST Israel..it would then backfire on him for his presidency...we can still take action after he is in, of course there is an unfortunate side to that and that is more murdered people

      I assume that you have some person, emotion stake in this battle that has clouded your ability to understand that wrong is wrong.

      Both sides in this mess have blood on their hands but more violence is not progressive thinking.

      I've seen your posts degrade badly in the last few days to the point where you are coming across as a smug, violent and mean-spirited person.

      I suggest you post less, calm down and think about not the people on each side slinging bombs but the innocent people on both sides that are being victimized.

      how is it again that you stop terrorsim with no civilian fatalities? nobody knows because terrorists(hamas)use civilians as shields. they dont have military bases safely tucked away from residential areas they use schools and apartment complexes to wage thier war its not the us or isreal who wants children dead its the terrorists how refuse to stop bobmbing no matter how many of there own die as a result. and remember gaza was given to the palastinians less than a year ago by isreal. israel has made every attempt at peace possible while hamas has never once taken a break from launchin rockets into sderot not even during cease fires ,wich israel by the way honored despite watching sderots kindergatens get bombed time and time again

      freetrack, the only effective way to root out terrorists without killing loads of innocent people in the process is good police work - this has always worked far better. The only way of preventing terrorism is to address the cause - the terrorism that the USA and Israel whine about and attack with huge bombs and destruction is caused by the USA's and Israel's criminal and murderous policies. Get rid of these policies and you'll no longer create terrorism.
