Israel puts media clamp on Gaza - NYTimes.com

Here's the article:
Three times in recent days, a small group of foreign correspondents was told to appear at the border crossing to Gaza. The reporters were to be permitted in to cover first-hand the Israeli war on Hamas in keeping with a Supreme Court ruling against the two-month-old Israeli ban on foreign journalists entering Gaza.
Each time, they were turned back on security grounds, even as relief workers and foreign nationals were permitted to cross the border. On Tuesday the reporters were told not even to bother coming.
And so for an 11th day of Israel’s war in Gaza, the several hundred journalists here to cover it wait in clusters away from direct contact with any fighting or Palestinian suffering but with full access to Israeli political and military commentators eager to show them around southern Israel, where Hamas rockets have been terrorizing civilians. A slew of private groups financed mostly by Americans are helping guide the press around Israel.
Like all wars, this one is partly about public relations. But unlike any war in Israel’s history, in this one, the government is seeking to control entirely the message and narrative for reasons both of politics and military strategy.

@dabne..posts are not PRO hamas as you would like to believe, the posts are telling Israel to quit the genocidal murder of innocent people, including children. The Massacre of innocents not carrying weapons and blaming it on hamas- that they are using people as human shields..that argument is a lie for the most part and is Israels excuse to kill, murder and maim children and eventually, eliminate a race of people...GENOCIDE

I cannot believe the number of pro Hamas stories that have filtered to the top of the front page at Current.com.
I honestly can't believe it. You should be ashamed of yourselves Current, for bumping so many pro Hamas, anti-Israel stories during this time of conflict. Balance your home page. This goes for the staff and all the viewers voting. Don't be so blind and one sided. Acknowledge the atrocities on both sides.

This is not about choosing between Hamas and Israel. (And, for the record, shouldn't one make a distinction between Hamas and the Palestinians?) Between the "hawks" in the Israeli government plus their supporters and the general Israeli people?
This is about promoting the common good, not of any particular people or any particular religion or any particular sub-sect of a particular religion, but of the entire region and, indeed, of the world.

The legal definition of genocide
The international legal definition of the crime of genocide is found in Articles II and III of the 1948 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Genocide.
Article II describes two elements of the crime of genocide:
1) the mental element, meaning the "intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such", and
2) the physical element which includes five acts described in sections a, b, c, d and e. A crime must include both elements to be called "genocide."
Article III described five punishable forms of the crime of genocide: genocide; conspiracy, incitement, attempt and complicity.
Excerpt from the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Genocide"Article II: In the present Convention, genocide means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such:
(a) Killing members of the group;
(b) Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;
(c) Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part;
(d) Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;
(e) Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.Article III: The following acts shall be punishable:
(a) Genocide;
(b) Conspiracy to commit genocide;
(c) Direct and public incitement to commit genocide;
(d) Attempt to commit genocide;
(e) Complicity in genocide. "http://www.preventgenocide.org/genocide/officialtext-printerfriendly.htm

Umm...it's not "silly school girl dramatics", it's actually you downplaying the slaughter that's going on in Gaza. The fact that you're even doing that disrespects those that are being massacred. Okay unimatrix, when do you start calling it a genocide? At 1000 casualties? It's getting damn close to that.
Is this a surgical attack going after Hamas? Or just blind fire? Because right now I've heard ONE Hamas leader killed amongst hundreds of Palestinians dead. This is genocide.

First, if you bring the Nazis into the argument you only reveal the poverty of your own intellect.
Second, both sides are wrong. If you support Hamas and the Palestinians you are wrong. If you support Israel and the Israelis you are wrong.
Hamas does use women and children as human shields, this is a fact. It is cowardly and reprehensible.
Israels nevertheless attacks Hamas with overwhelming force, killing and wounding the innocent, which is also reprehensible.
Passionate rhetoric serves no purpose. The hyperbolic dramatics only inflames the passions with out informing the mind.

Anytime you systematically prevent the truth from getting out you can be sure it is because it will turn even the most non-political person against you.
It is a smart move by Israel.
It'll be a lot harder to ethnically cleanse Gaza if people know what they are doing.
Isn't that why the Nazi's kept their actions secret?

Kuffar, your passion is evident and understandable. Really, though, you take an untenable premise as a foundation: namely, that what happened as long as 3000 years ago should determine current geopolitical issues.
Should every U.S. resident who arrived since the late 15th century leave so that the American Indians can reclaim the land stolen from them? Should every resident of Israel who arrived after the Hebrew tribes invaded and displaced those called "Canaanites" pack up and leave?
Of course not--not because G_d/God/Allah said the invasions were approved by him, but because geopolitical realities make it impossible. Jews, Christians, and Muslims all worship the same God. And adherents of those three main faiths all believe that God has endorsed their invasions and conquering, as evidenced in holy scripture.
But of course none of the three faiths will accept the interpretation of scripture or of God's will proposed by either of the others. And no one who belongs to another faith entirely will take any of those scriptures, let alone interpretations of scriptures, seriously. The problems must be resolved on the basis of present reality rather than ancient history or belief in divine land grants.
*Retributive* justice is no justice at all. It is simply a rationale for never ending violence and hatred. The answer must be sought in *distributive* justice, the rule of law, or at least of principles agreed upon by all parties to a conflict.

People should question immediately why journalists would not be allowed to view a conflict as it develops. Especially when the force censors the media from an area it has direct control. gaza is currently a slaughterhouse pure and simple. and enclosed rampage is going on. it does have a focused target yet shooting a bullet in a crowded room is bound to have casualties. hamas isn't making palestinians human shileds, the gaza residents are just being held by both arms and can't get outta the way.
