Woman accused of witchcraft burned at stake

A woman from a remote area of Papua New Guinea was stripped, tied to a pole and burnt to death. Police believe the crime is connected to the island's obsession with black magic.

The victim, who is believed to have been between 16 and 21 years old, was killed after being accused of having an affair and spreading AIDS to one of her killers.

    • before viruses were discovered, sickness was believed to have been caused by black magic. these people are not modern people. they are tribal primitives isolated from civilization. it only makes sense to them to burn the sick before the black magic spreads.

      btw, these folks are headhunters and represent a sort of "time travel" for modern citizens.

      I get that totally, My post above makes that clear.
      What I don't get understand is why the male is not being treated the same as the woman he helped burned to death.
      He now carries HIV as well.
      By their own tribal beliefs is he not also a "witch" who carries the disease called "black magic".

      Its a damn excuse is what it is!
      Its an excuse for murder and a way for the leaders of this savage group of people to instill fear in all others within the tribe, especially the females.

      That makes her a poor unfortunate individual living with a virus.

      So, because he cant keep his thing in his pants and contracts HIV she has to die???

      If that be the case then he should be the next to be burned at the stake, for he is now infected as well .
      He to is now a witch, is he not?

      Maybe they should get a 1up on the situation and just burn him before he does what witches do and spreads HIV.

      COWARDLY and of FEEBLE MIND.
