Gaza: Life In Conflict

CJCollectiveWorks
Zouheir Alnajjar, a Collective Journalism contributor who lives in Gaza, and Jaron Gilinsky, a CJ Contributor living in Israel, show us two inside perspectives on the war in Gaza. Their citizens' reports show sides of the conflict not seen anywhere else: from the secret tunnels that connect Gaza and Egypt to an exclusive look at a group of Palestinian militants who make - and set off - homemade rockets headed for Israel.

Vanguard Correspondent Mariana Van Zeller hosts this half hour special which also includes an interview with Zouheir and Jaron, who are on the ground in the Middle East.

Collective Journalism, Current's citizen journalism program, works by combining perspectives from around the world to create a picture of the world we live in.

    • So sad. With Israelis and Palestinians being so headstrong about their own ideals peace will never be achieved...
What needs to happen is for each side to recognize that among Hamas terrorists, there are many innocent people that should not be suffering for this.
Let the past be the past, and learn forgiveness, on each end.
      Great coverage

    • Did you hear the statement that the Palestinian man said, that when the Palestinian people die in this conflict in high numbers (as civilians), they see it as a victory, they want to die, it's sacred Shahid?!

That was such a well done piece showing all sides of what is happening. Thank you current for the time it took to do this.

    • Truly, Truly, great story! Had many different feelings during this. You started with a very short history of what and where Gaza is. More people need to know that. I did. . The shutting off of Gaza .....Why?....During the making of the rockets segment,I was asking.....Why?.....Maybe all of us looking at this from the outside need to keep asking why? It might be the the long term solution to this is to just keep asking both sides why? Hey,Ms.Clinton ask the Israelites' why,ask the people of Gaza,why,....They alone can decide if they if they want to live in peace.

    • I don't want my taxes to pay for Israel’s war against women, children and the innocent people of Gaza!!

Israel should fight their wars with their own money and weapons.....

    • Obviously, the blow to Gaza prevented either Iran or the Hezbolla to attack Israel as they said they will do if Israel will go into Gaza.
The Middle East lives by the law of the Jungle and only the strong survives. Since 1948 the Arabs keep trying to terrorize Israel and whenever they are pushed against the wall, they try to find a new place in history to tell their story from and cry for money and help.
Hamas never gave a damn about their women or children or they wouldn't have sent them as suicide bombers to kill and get killed.
Hams is a selfish gang which works for Iran to serve Irans aspirations for power in the Middle East.

Your treatment of the Palestinians is no better than the way the Nazi's treated your people....you all should be thouroughly ashamed.

    • This thing started because Israel closed their borders kicked out peace keepers, shut off water, electricity, food and all AID supplies to Gaza. Waited for the inevitable response from Hamas to start a war and to end the truce and peace negotiations.
