Obama to reverse Bush's executive orders

Senator Russ Feingold (D-WI) said he’s been informed that President Obama will support his proposed legislation to make public some opinions from the Justice Department's Office of Legal Counsel, which issued some of the Bush Administration's most sweeping claims of executive power. Obama also has promised to limit President Bush's practice of using "signing statements" to amend legislation.
"Every day we get indications that they're serious about reversing the abuses of the Constitution," Feingold, a harsh Bush critic, told Politico. Feingold said he thinks Obama is likely to issue executive orders rapidly reversing Bush policies, and others have indicate that those will likely cover the interrogation and detention of terror suspects, and keeping the records of past presidents secret.

The Righties who frequent this list confuse me, they seem to defend everything fascist, oppressive and anti-democratic...especially if it was done by Bush-co, and attack everything democratic, but they call all "leftists" fascists...
Maybe they don't understand what fascism is. Literally, the binding of corporate or industrial interests with government, ultimately eliminating the voice of the population.
These folks are tedious in their commentary and a sharp contrast to the thinking, investigative and compassionate others who appear on Current. I guess they are just here to thrash someone, since they clearly are not changing anyone's mind.

I find that most conservatives aren't actually the ideal their side supports, but rather the nasty transformation the neo-cons have made it. What happened to the real honest conservatives that want free-market economy and to keep our head out of other people's business?

Those aren't the conservatives, those are the libertarians that want "free-market economy and to keep our head out of other people's business"
You have your political platforms mixed up, since the conservatives want to "conserve" all the profits for themselves.
The best example of their desire for the opposite of a "free market economy" is the bailouts they've had because if that were true then would've let the companies that had bad busines practices go broke and let the market be "free" to let the more soundly efficient compainies take their place to create a stronger market.

Of course it's going to be ugly. The entire reason for them wanting to keep every foul, heinous & infamous
criminal policy secret for 8 years was to get away with it. I'm certain they figured that McSame would continue their devastation and make things even worse so that Bush & Co.(Piracy R US) wouldn't seem so bad in comparison.Obviously that gambit failed. In a Democracy there is no such thing as secret government because the rule of law demands that everyone must account to somebody. And the only reason for secrecy is to make things out of sight/out of mind so that crooks can get away without accounting. Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. The delusions of grandeur, obsession, and pathological lying that result comprise a profile of criminal insanity.Secret government is untimately only Organized Crime done under the color of lawful authority. The idea of Democracy means that the People rule. When they consent to be governed that gives their representatives permission to act in their name as Lincoln said. But they can't give their permission if they don't know what's going on. Hence the secrecy, the media mind control etc.to manipulate public ignorance. In the early 1970s Playboy magazine illustrated the pattern that has characterized Bush/Cheny when they characterized
Nixon/Agnew in an article entitled: Howard Hughs, Richard Nixon and the CIA. The illustration said it all.
A large, sweaty green arm representing BIG MONEY
(the top 2%/BIG OIL/Major Corporations/Fed etc.) holding up the hand which was Hughs & the CIA. Nixon was only the Puppet glove that fit on the index finger of the Hand as a concession to direct things. The real Establishment supporting Nixon wasn't the People, and the Law. It was Big Business. How did Herbert Hoover put it ? "The business of this country IS Big Business" Like Roman emperor Nero,Hoover was in power duing the early days of the Great Depression (1928-1933) History usualy repeats itself. - 3 years ago
