Special interest ties of new Secretary of State

With new incoming POTUS Obama, already a few of his executive decisions are questionable. "The silence over this is itself remarkable. When Henry Kissinger was invited merely to co-chair the 9/11 Commission, the political left went bonkers about his foreign clients. In this case we have a Secretary of State nominee whose husband may have raised more than $60 million from various Middle East grandees, and Washington reacts with a yawn. Maybe someone will even ask about it at her nomination hearing today".

I hope you're right, but I doubt it. Bill would never break the budget the first year with a "stimulus" package bound to drag us down to economic ruin. Bill balanced budgets.

    • The only things "undiplomatic" Bill Clinton said were wildly misrepresented out of context statements that the Obama loving media and the kool-aid drinking Messiah groupies took to heart to further the campaign of The Great One. If only, especially in the face of economic ruin, we could be fortunate enough to have the brain of Bill Clinton in the White House. Only the blind media driven misdirected anger from Obama worshippers prevented it and our country will suffer for it.

He brought up race explicitly in South Carolina, talking about people voting along racial lines, and bringing up Jesse Jackson's wins in 84' and 88'.

So while he didn't say anything that offended me personally, a career politician's job is pretty much to keep from saying *anything* that can be misconstrued by the media or your competitor.

The man is too smart of a politician to play with such a live wire as race in South Carolina, and at minimum, it distracted from his wife, the candidate, in an unwanted way.

Oh please, go back and look at the full tape. I bet you've never even seen the entire thing. Although you've obviously seen MSNBC's edited version. How anyone can think "The First Black President" is a racist is beyond me. You would have to totally suspend belief, which come to think of it, was one of the qualities Messiah worshipers shared. No one on the planet has done more for minorities than Bill Clinton.

    • During the primaries, Bill Clinton said many undiplomatic things that undermined his legacy and made you wonder where his brain went and what control Hillary had over him (very little).

The Clinton hearings will be very gentle because money speaks, and the Clintons have deep pockets and even deeper memories of who is for or against them. You can bet she will be taping the whole thing. Experience teaches lessons, but what if the lessons are poor ones...to go with the flow, run over your opponents, and follow the path of least resistance (for example, not dealing with health care until her "second term in office")?

Obama has been a cautions and talented student of where the bread is buttered and which strings are pulled where. He knows how to go with the flow, though in some cases the flow has been against our nation's overall best interests...like the FISA cave-in, sidling up to the coal interests, giving health insurance companies a huge seat at the table (where they have been eating all the meat and throwing the bones back into the Medicare), etc.

    • She also has a husband who is one of the most respected Statesmen and Leaders in the world and who would be an asset of immeasurable value to any administration in whatever role he is given.

Nothing, The Clinton Global Iniative humanitarian work has nothing to do with it. If we want to worry about shady donations from the middle east, let's have a look at how Obama was able to raise so much money in campaign funds in the middle of an economic downturn.

I was under the impression that campaign donations are a pretty transparent process. My evidence of this is that somehow anyone can google my name and find out exactly who I contributed to.

Especially given that Obama didn't accept any PAC money, just individual contributions, I find your allegation kind of out of right field.

I, personally, haven't heard of this "middle east donations to Obama" meme yet. And I argue politics with people on the internet quite a bit...

Is there a link with more details?
