Palestinian deaths in the Gaza Strip have passed 1,000, medical sources in Gaza say, as diplomatic efforts continue to reach a ceasefire.
Nearly a third of the dead are reported to be children and nearly 5,000 people have been injured.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said he wanted to find a durable and sustainable ceasefire between Israel and Palestinian fighters.
But clashes reportedly intensified as Mr Ban began a Middle East tour.
The Ministry of Health in Gaza said 1,013 people have died in the conflict which started 19 days ago.
More than 300 of the dead are said to be children, 76 are women and more than 4,500 people in Gaza have been injured, of whom 1,600 are children and 678 are women.
Thirteen Israelis have been killed, including three civilians and one soldier from rockets fired from Gaza and nine soldiers killed in fighting in Gaza.

In reflection, it seems anti-arabs are mostly uneducated sad little people like you. Listen, Arabs welcomed Jews when they first moved to Palestine and this is a FACT. Arabs WANT peace in the area. And for your information, Arabs led this world in the past through trade, peace and ingenuity. And yet it seems all Jews mention about their pasts are struggle, migration and escape. You guys had a tough time, yes, but don't hate on those who actually want peace- Arabs or non-Arabs. Your hatred is just as bad as wanting war.

      Shame

      On

      You.

    • forget who did what to whom ask what can be done to stop it. anything else from creating terms of peace only serves to add numbers to list of those who died in vien. so many jews so many palastinians so many human beings. stop the finger pointing stop the propaganda stop the chosing of sides. resolve youself to the greater good or get out of the way so those who do can end these attrocities.
