why is this news? this is a common thing for cops to do with kids doing graffiti if they don't want to deal with paperwork.

that's 3rd world writting for you. I live in l.a. and I had an lapd make some friends of mine spray each others backs. They were cool with it because their parents didn't find out. I used to bomb in Peru all the time and that 3rd world element added to the feel.

Serves these teens right, they should be punished by cleaning up their mess instead of being added to the mess.

By beating them and spray painting them?!? What happened to simply arresting them?
So do you approve of getting the shit beat out of you and then spray painted for a punishment? - 3 years ago

I bet you they won't spray paint on other people's property again. The cops are probably corrupt, yes, but if those kids hadn't been spray painting private property, it wouldn't have happened.

I'd take the trade if they didn't arrest me... but the fact that they were fined and arrested on top of that is bs.

In the Communist era, it was greatly seen that a graf artist would give color to the white-gray buildings, but there is a big difference between Art and the fucktards that spray the walls.

As graf leaks into the mainstream via Shepard Fairey, Banksy, and the like we should ask more of our young vandals. I challenge them to be artisans of their craft. Paint something beautiful. Say something. Tagging a dumpster with ballon letters that only you can read, is not revolutionary. It's not even cool. Nobody cares that you were out after dark and you stood by a dumpster for 10 seconds. But, if you paint a mural on a brokedown building in an ugly neighborhood and bring beauty to the hood, take your time and get away with it.......then you are revolutionary, courageous, ......then and only then are you "the man".

The graffitists probably loved having their trainers sprayed up, customization and all that... maybe not so much their 'bottoms' though.
As a completely unrelated aside, this story brought back memories of 2005 and the infamous paint sniffer that became internet *ahem* gold.
Here's a picture in all his golden-faced glory.

i see how you think that, but it's called graffiti look up the word in a dictionary and it means on a wall of surface. I do think there are more beautiful art but we can't start separating them because then of what we like. It was the start of it and I bet a lot of those artists still catch a tag here and there.
