Amber Hill also waived her right to a jury trial Thursday. A panel of three Cuyahoga County judges will hear her case beginning Tuesday.
The 23-year-old mother previously had pleaded not guilty to aggravated murder in the October 2007 deaths of her children. The girls were ages 2 and 4.
Prosecutor Bill Mason is seeking the death penalty. Prosecutor's office spokesman Ryan Miday said Sunday that Hill was not offered a plea deal.
Authorities haven't discussed a motive and say Hill had no history of neglecting the girls.

i saw a program once about postpartum depression and apparently it isn't too uncommon for some women to not only feel apathy toward their newborns, but also an infanticidal urge. that's no justification, obviously, but i wonder if there's a purpose behind this primal urge.

A feeling of hopelessness usually accompanied by a reduced sense of self-worth accompanies this postpartum depression and it's generally attributed to hormonal imbalance. Some reject this and assert that the issue is caused by a form of Munchausen's (sp?) syndrome.
Maybe we should all listen to Tom Cruise bash Brook Shields again before we ask the chuch of Scientology what to do... - 3 years ago

I agree. The dumb darwinists think we're evolving but obviously it's DEVOLUTION we're going into as humans revert to the 'animalistic' instincts. Good call.

i don't see why this can't be seen as something that could possibly be a natural reaction. if you think about animals in captivity, they often refuse to breed or on occasion will even resort to killing their own offspring. you can dismiss this behavior in humans as 'animalistic' or whatever, but it may simply be part of us. it's an ugly impulse, but that's why it should be explored rather than simply condemned as an act of evil insanity.

Not all (in fact most) Arabs are terrorist, and not terrorist are Arabs. Terrorism is what it is, and doesn't have a damn thing in relation to the context of this story mutedmajority

Hmm. Very interesting. I just did a google search for the phrase 'the hand of god is guiding this country' -- And out of ALL the web pages in the whole google indexing system that phrase only shows up one place:
It's in a posting by none other than "mutedmajority" on current.com.
Don't quote yourself and pretend it came from somewhere else.

What are you a subversive illegal alien? Do you really think we CARE how you feel. This is supposed to be a conversation about a sick woman. Put away your personal soapbox. If this were my page, I would delete your comment.

She should have just claimed that God made her do it - or does that only work in South Carolina and Texas?
