Those signs are definitely great. All this Bush-bashing is cathartic but hey, but hey people.
It's easy to zero in on the figurehead but the real players are the other Neo-Cons right along with Bushie.
You know, Dick and Wolfie, Condi and Donald, Karl and Richard Perle.
Because if and when it does matter, it's going to be these other players that will figure into the long, ugly equation. - 3 years ago

It will help keep the tourists trapped in the Union Square zone. The signs were actually put up by an owner from one of the fashion stores with 5K USD bags. The goal is to trap people there so they spend more money. Kind of like confusing floor plans at casinos. Or trying to leave an IKEA store. ;-)

How excellent. It truly made me laugh out loud when I read this.
Bush deserves absolutely zero recognition because he is a failure, always has been one and will always be one. He has literally taken our country and pile-drived it into the ground. What a sad, sad man.

really???
if someone cannot make the connection that Bush has been changed to Obama then they have a lot more to worry about than getting lost.
also I doubt too many people will get lost since most tourists dont drive in San Francisco and the cabbies all know where Bush/Obama St is...plus Bush St isnt near a lot of the touristy stuff.
so just relax and enjoy the joke...we all are ;)

I vaguely recall that in the leadup to the Iraq war, there were protests at the corner of Bush & Powell. Anyone remember the details?

Some more sign changes:
Funny considering...
"Of course, Bush Street was not named after our current President. In fact, nobody knows for sure who it was named after and it is probably the most difficult to trace of all San Francisco street names. There are two prevailing theories. One is that it was named after Dr. Jonathan P. Bush, but he didn’t come to the City until 1849 and there are two earlier maps from 1847 that already had a Bush Street.
The other theory is more credible, but is unverified. In 1893, the Chronicle published a story about a man claiming to be J.P. Bush. According to Bush, he first arrived in San Francisco in 1845 as a cabin boy on a New England whaling ship, then deserted and became an assistant to Jasper O’Farrell – who was mapping the City streets. O’Farrell then named Bush Street after his assistant."
