An 11-year-old Mexican boy has killed six young bulls in a single fight, apparently becoming the world's youngest matador to achieve the feat.

    • horrible. as much as people argue it's a cultural tradition, there's something very nasty about young kids being taught and encouraged to kill young animals as part of a voyeuristic show. So cruel and inhumane.

    • so then, ultimately, what's the difference between this and commonplace industrial farm atrocities?

why the selective outrage? how can so many people condemn one act of severe animal cruelty and actively consent to another?

just to let y'all know in some instances children are employeed in slaughter houses...although illegally....there is a case going on right now that happened in Postville, Iowa where a jewish kosher slaughter house not only employeed people under age 18 but the people that owned and operated the slaughter house supplied them with false docs so they could work there, some were under age and a total of 399 were illegals from other countries. some have already been sent to prison and others are awaiting trial.

there is no difference morally, not unless your life depends on it.

consider murderers. who gets the most media attention for being a sick fuck, the killer who sadistically stabs their victim several times, or the killer who's indifferent to the act of murder, but enjoys consuming the victim's flesh afterwards... ?

    • Utterly ridiculous, most people believe bull fighting should be banned by now or at least the bull should never be killed or "needled".

This is old tradition and will eventually reach the point where Mexicans will think this. Education is the way to go.

    • Bullfighting is one of those activities so rich in tradition that a lot of people have a hard time seeing past it. Click through to watch this pod on bullfighting in Spain.

It is a primitive ritual stemming from the ancient times when Mithraism was prevalent in southern Europe under the Roman Empire. It became a bloody tradition and "art" in Spain, Portugal, and southern France. In the latter country, there are non-bloody branches in which the bulls and cows are neither tortured, bled, or harmed in any way and in which several men enter the arena to do some bull-vaulting and catch small rosettes that are set between the bulls' and cows' horns (which are covered with a rounded metal sheath to avoid the wounding of the men in the arena).

The above illustration is of the Phrygian/Persian God Mithras killing a bull.

    • I don't think children should be encouraged into participating in this so called "sport." It's too dangerous and I think a child has a lot more to offer than to fight bulls or w.e. they do

    • this is so sick, and if you find out how those bulls are treated you will know its not much of a contest. For one, the bulls are kept in the dark a week before the fight, so they are blinded and disoriented as soon as they are in the arena. For two, typically, the bulls are drugged days before the fight. Impressed? Not in the slightest. Disturbed. Very.

    • This is not interesting, it is disgusting! There should be something more useful for this kid to do than kill animals. He is no hero...or maybe he is in HIS country! It is a horrible thing to teach children that this is a goal to work towards. What the hell is wrong with this world!

    • This is the proof that any kid can kill a drunk, injured bull, and that there’s no pride in bullfighting. My country has a long tradition in bullfight (even my grampa was bullfighter) but I can’t hate it more than I already do.

    • it's no accident that the matador uniform is a manifestation of narcissism.

what's considered a 'young' bull? do they mean calves? what a mighty achievement, slaying baby bovines...

yup, video confirms it. they don't even seem to pose even a minor threat. my cat is more dangerous.

    • Quite... amazingly stupid - Bullfighting is ridiculous. Not put myself into that culture but from where I am now, it's pretty backwards.
