WTF Obama how about america first?

Image

Dont you think this is a little lame that he would give another country his first interview like this.

From the article

As special envoy to the Middle East, George Mitchell heads off to the region to begin work on negotiating a cease fire between Israel and the Palestinians, President Obama has sat for his first formal TV interview with the Arabic cable TV network Al-Arabiya, ABC News has learned.

The interview was taped this evening and is set to air at 11 pm ET, as Mitchell is in the air and on his way to the region.

Based in Dubai, Al-Arabiya estimates that it has a potential audience exceeding 23 million in the Gulf region.

    • goodness me, shouldn't this be seen as good news for america's international diplomacy? if no US network worked themselves up to a worthy enough interview I don't see why some other country's network shouldn't get it.

    • I can think of not one reason why this is a bad thing and too many reasons to view it as a good thing. Let the man do his stuff for a few months before judging him. Give him a chance. After all, we just survived eight years of Bush.

    • We need good press overseas. Bush and his lies have controlled the media for most of the past 8 years. Go where the most perverse concept of America may pervade and plant other seeds.

    • We all live in the same world, and we are all humans. He's going to be our president for at least the next four years, maybe even eight. Are you that selfish to want him that bad? This article is ridiculous and a waste of internet bandwidth.

    • All the American news media covered it before the election, so as others have said before it is dead news. Everyone else is asleep until they find something against him.

      This was posted by a conservative. The fact that the first presidential interview would go to a little known Arab News station rather than the likes of CNN, coupled with the apointment of former senate majority leader Goerge Mitchell, as Middle East Envoy and the fact that his first call to a foreign leader was to Abu Mazen the leader of the Palestinian Authority, coming before this move make a trifecta of positively recieved actions in the Arab world. That's significant and it makes it far easier for us to pull off our commitment to close Guantanamo bay which has had an impact of tarnishing our global image far beyond just the Aarab/muslim world. Considering the fact that we are leveraging trillions from the Arab world as well as China and Europe, which right now is our only hope if we don't want to land in a global depression rather than just the worst recession since WWII. Yeah I'd say that's pretty important.

      Oh and btw, this was posted by a conservative member of Current but I doubt any rational person finds this anything other than a boon. We are safer because of the moves Obama has made. Don't worry about those who are playing politics at a moment of deep national need, the very action of politics as usual is what drove people to vote against them in this momentous cycle and thier actions will only ensure that they elect Obama again.

    • This is good for America, why the hell should we be at the puppeted by the Middle East, because of America needs the oil. Its’ people like this who still think like previous administrations that could care less about the future generations, because the need and greed of Americans. Green Technologies have been around for years and America’s Leadership never believed in it and could not move it forward. We now have a stronger, more intelligent leader who will bring back the American Dream, and gain the trust of much trustworthy allies who can rebuild this mess that America created.

    • Why does it matter where he gives the interview from and who to? those r petty points. Whats important is the solution. Sir, what is your fair & workable solution to the situation in the Middle East?

      Network news is owned by big corporations who knows Obama is for the people, or those who dislike Obama policies like to ruin our chance for change. So pointing out its 'his first interview' now this is a good way to stir up the people by pointing out Obama is anti American for not bowing to them but doing something dynamic. Also the writer seem to want to insite people to negative action hence repetition of Arab-to instil fear in regular people. Also its not his official interview as pres, he was interviewed during the innaguration ball thing.

      This shouldn't be used to divide the people or take away the trust. He appeared on tv often in these past few days. shheeeeesh.

      I mean he didn't even go to Oprah or Barbara Walters so. Is there a law that says he must do an official interview in the USA? That must have been instituted when George Washington whimsically did his first speech as President in a British Colony: (from now on thou & all Presidents hereafter shall do a 1st interview after being president to a United States of Am to an American reporter, newspaper...& when an electric box comes into being your image will be reflected only in these states)

      Jellies come from various backgrounds, colors & religions we do not have a problem with him giving an interview anywhere.

      (12:10am i just now read the original article by abc handsome jake jasper he is objective in his reporting--so the poster here agitated the situation by adding lame & big trouble title comment cause se was upset at seeing the heading like fk wat was obama doing feeling)
      SE:i apologize for doubting the Obama & team even for 5 secs.

    • What was wrong with the hundreds of interviews he gave in the states prior to January 20th? I don't believe much has changed. But this tickled me, thank ya.

    • It's a goddamn interview... get over it.

      Do Presidents ever say anything important in interviews other than whitewashed rhetoric anyway?

      This one did. In a direct play to muslims he did something that would have been a political landmine any where else and certainly during his campaign, playing to his middle name, and reminding the world at large that he has muslim family members and that Americans believe in a healthy respect of all religious faiths and of non believers as well.

    • FOREBODING TIMES

      Flock of Birds darken sky
      foreboding thoughts, and I ask why.
      I raise my eyes, find darkness bleak,
      This country ours, has grown quite weak.
      I wonder when we'll make a stand,
      wrest our land from silver-spoon hand.
      I wonder if again truth shall reign,
      silver-spoon-fed-folk feel not our pain.
      Corrupt ones rule this land we loved,
      into corner common folk shoved;
      for oil black our young men die,
      illusions fed us, for them we cry;
      for loot they strive, and fight for Power,
      while in fine Mansion's our leaders cower.
      The rich get richer, while strive we must,
      and Politician's ours make fools of us.
      It's not too late to make a stand,
      wrest power from corrupt one's hand;
      as did founding Father's in days of old,
      let's take a stand, we must be bold;
      'gainst English Tyrant Forefather's strived,
      their blood, spilled, countless brave men died.
      We stand not for blood revolt,
      for freedom gained, we can not halt;
      Bold boys' blood in Iraq is spilled,
      far too many ours have been killed;
      for reasons, vain, not noble 't'all,
      riddle me that, you stop the fall.

    • I suppose this a big deal but I wouldn't put too much thought into it. Personally I think it's a good idea to cover bases with foreign countries rather than america first. Cos we're going to be the first to know about any decisions he makes in the future and if we don't then there will good reasoning behind it I'm sure.

      Obama doesn't seem like the kind of leader to go about his choices unspoken of to the american people.

      Chillax my fellow americans.

    • He is accomplishing two (2) things doing this. One, He is
      showing his respect for the people he trully admires!
      And the main reason is he is doing this is PAYBACK!
      FOR ALL THE ILLEGAL FUNDS HE RECEIVED FROM
      THE MUSLIMS, THEY GAVE THIS CAT MILLIONS & MILLIONS, HE IS MAKING SURE THEY ALL STAY QUITE
      AND HAPPY!!!! HE HAS ALREADY PUT INTO MOTION
      AN ACT TO EVENTUALLY RELEASE THEIR TERRORIST BRETHERN, MOST CAPTURED ON THE FIELD OF BATTLE!!! OBAMA< WHAT A PRESIDENT
      THIS GUY WILL GO DOWN IN HISTORY AS!!!!

    • My opinion.... how we judge President Obama will depend on if he can speak honestly to the autrocities committed by both sides of the conflict.

      WIll he be strong, or will he sway with the politcal winds?

    • He's definitely has numerous reasons for doing this the way that he is. He are some that I can think of A) He's saving not only gas but the time it takes to go there. He's got major homeland problems to deal with right now and going there right now in person would distract him from the matters that are plaguing us here at home B) His use of technology is great, presidents should not and can not be techno-illiterate anymore. C) He is showing the Middle-East that he does care about the situation over there while showing the American people that our Nation comes first

      There is no doubt that in time he will go to the Middle-East for peace talks face to face, but he just got in and has many matters to deal with here at home at this present time.

      Jk but the news is trash, the media on television is made to blind the people of America and setting their point of view to the left or to the right. Everyone in America should boycott their news channels and let them know that we aren't buying their shit anymore.

    • Here is a fine example of piss poor reporting that most Americans have been force feed to believe. I think President Obama has been President for 6 days now and nobody over here in America has even interviewed him from this country. The news is dead, the networks are controlled by corporations and for people who are still asleep that means your local news is dead also. Stop people, look around, tell me what's goin down.
