It's no shocker that doner kebabs are not health food. (Really, is anything that you only ever eat whilst intoxicated at 3 a.m. "good" for you?) The Local Authority Coordinators of Regulatory Services (Lacors) called levels of fat, salt, and calories "shocking" after they studied the nutritional value of 494 kebabs from 76 councils in the UK. But this report says that two kebabs contain a whole week's worth of saturated fat, an average of 1,000 calories and 99% of the recommended daily salt intake.

The worst offender was a kebab that had 1,990 calories in it alone. YUM!

    • If I'm going out on a night out and drinking my weekly recommended amount of alcohol, surely that needs to be followed by my weekly saturated fat and salt intake...

    • What I have never understood is how anyone makes a living owning a kebab shop. I mean there are 100s of them and they are open all hours. Apart from the post-pub, post-club 'rush' how the hell do they sell any?

    • I never understood what they put in kebabs to make them apparently edible, when they look so patently inedible on the spit. Guess I'll just make toast in future.
