Were Chickens Firing Rockets ?

On 5 January, many Israeli tanks, troops and bulldozers advanced into the al-Zeitoun neighborhood south east of Gaza City. In this area, called al-Samouni, Israel killed 49 members of the Samouni family, after soldiers ordered them to gather into a single home, which was shelled several hours later.
A number of chicken farms are located only a few meters away from the Samouni house. These farms came under fire by Israeli forces and were totally bulldozed. Thousands of chickens were caught in their sheds, as the bulldozing destroyed their cages. Some died immediately, others slowly without food or water for four days.
Abu Ahmed al-Sawafari, an owner of a chicken farms owners, was sitting amidst the rubble of his destroyed farm. He explained that "I have been working on that profession for long years. I have been growing my business by all efforts. Israelis came then left causing an earthquake in the area. They have killed these chickens, they are equal to human souls. They were suffocated and died due to hunger. I wonder why the Israelis killed these chickens? Were they firing rockets into Israel?"

Many have been appalled by the seemingly mindless orgy of destruction of families, children, homes, streets, shops and orchards in Gaza carried out by the Israeli armed forces. It left me wanting to know what has happened to make ordinary well-educated Israelis think that it is morally right to do this to their comparatively unarmed neighbors?
I perhaps stumbled on part of the answer in the bookstore at Tel Aviv airport on a recent visit to Israel. A map on display marked all the land from the Mediterranean to the Dead Sea as Israel: there was no West Bank, no Gaza Strip. A travel book I admired for its photos of a beautiful land also described it all as Israel. Jericho was in Israel it stated, although deep inside the West Bank.
If this bookstore is as typical as I suspect, then most Israelis are convinced they already own the lands now occupied by Palestinians. It is as if they see them, not as a sovereign people, but as a host of unwelcome and unruly tenants squatting Jewish lands. If this is so, then I thought there is little hope for a “Two State” solution.
This view is deeply rooted in an Orthodox Judaism with increasing influence in the Israeli military. A booklet issued by the Jewish Rabbinate to the troops going to Gaza, "Daily Torah studies for the soldier and the commander in Operation Cast Lead," states there is "a biblical ban on surrendering a single millimeter of it [Israel] to gentiles, though all sorts of impure distortions and foolishness of autonomy, enclaves and other national weaknesses. We will not abandon it to the hands of another nation, not a finger, not a nail of it."

Yes the Palestinians want Israel to withdraw to the 1967 borders, Let them come into Israel to work and operate businesses, subsidize their government and social services and let them continue to breed like rabbits. The average Palestinian woman has six children. They already have 1.5 Million people. What happens when you do all this and it gets to the point that their is a human being standing on every square foot of Gaza?

continued from above:
I'm going to spend most of my time tonight with some thoughts on how yours and my struggle for Palestinian rights might well proceed in Birmingham. But first I want to say unequivocally that, if any you here tonight feel that defending one's self or people from aggression, repression, and oppression can or should ever involve the deliberate attempt to kill noncombatants…men, women, children…then you've lost me. You've lost me, because there is nothing patriotic, there is nothing that can be condoned or rationalized about the way militant Hamas and other militant Palestinian groups have been trying to promote regime change in Israel.
However, I too favor regime in Israel; but not that way. I too favor a regime change in Israel, but not to an exclusivist authoritarian Islamic state some Hamas leaders seem to be intending. The one I favor and the one I hope our next President will tactfully encourage would encompass a change from the current Jewish state to a truly democratic pluralist equalitarian society whose polity would not be prey to any sectarian, ethnic, racial, or gender interests.
I too favor a regime change for Israel, because we know that the cause of freedom and justice for Palestine has never been honestly served by every one of Israel's brutal terrorizing governments, every one of them since Israel's inception; and something must be done about that. We know that the cause of freedom and justice for Palestine has never really…I repeat, never really has been served honestly by any European Government; and something also needs to be done about that.
And finally we know that the cause of freedom and justice for Palestine has never been served honestly by every American President since at least Lyndon Johnson; and something must be done about that too, In fact pressuring nonviolently our newest national government that we – you and I – right here in Birmingham must start working on in order to motivate an about face in our previous shameful official policies toward the Palestinian people.
And we might start by recognizing that although Hamas militant violence against Israeli noncombatants is part of the problem, entering into some kind of dialogue with its political leaders is part of the solution too. At the same time, however, we need to recognize that using the Israeli army to deprive Palestinians of

Jerry Levin, Author and a former CNN Mid East Bureau Chief in Lebanon, was a full time volunteer with Christian Peacemaker Teams in Hebron, when I first met him.
After Jerry showed me around town, I told Jerry that Hebron felt like hell.
Jerry replied, "You haven't seen anything until you see Gaza."
Jerry said that in June 2005.
On January 20, 2009, Jerry delivered the following statement to the Muslim Students Association at University of Alabama, Birmingham.
Despite widespread concerns about Israel's continuing expropriation of Palestinian land and assaults on Palestinian farmers in the West Bank, the creation of the Gaza ghetto, and Israel's Army's blitzkrieg tactics being used to throttle Hamas' rocket fire, the violently militant Palestinian militia is not justified in the indiscriminate lethal manner it is carrying on its protests and promotion of regime change in Israel.
Last summer President-elect Obama said that he would expect Israel to do "everything" in its power to stop Hamas rocket attacks on Israeli civilians. But his statement was ambiguous enough to hope that "everything" means that Israel's military-industrial-theocratic establishment should cease the relentless provocations that are providing Hamas with its grisly rational for killing Israeli civilians.
I too favor a regime change in Israel, but not to an exclusivist authoritarian Islamic state Hamas leaders seem to be intending. The one I favor and the one I hope our next President will tactfully encourage would encompass a change from the current Jewish state to a truly democratic pluralist equalitarian society whose polity would not be prey to any sectarian, ethnic or racial interest.

'We love the sun. So we sat outside to see the F16s bombing Rafah'
Fida Qishta is a writer and teacher living in Rafah on the Gaza Strip. She is keeping a diary of the Israeli bombardmentFida Qishta
The Observer, Sunday 11 January 2009................ a rocket nearly hit the ambulance. They feel afraid. When I returned home, the city looked like a ghost town - most of the shops were closed. I saw a market open, a great chance to get more vegetables for a week. A few people run out, pick what they need, then run home. We are all running short of food now.
Night
F16s in the sky. No one in Rafah can sleep. The attacks shake our house again. We can see the smoke from the window again. Big attacks on the border. A scary sound. My sisters decided to sleep early to try to get some sleep before things got worse.
I watched the TV with my friend - news of the UN Security Council meeting. I told myself: "They will take a decision after the attack on the UN school. This must end now." I was shocked when they delayed the decision. When will the UN decide? After the Israeli army has finished?
Friday 9 January
I woke at 7am, to a phone call from one of my friends in Nuserat. Last night, she and her family spent the night downstairs, sleeping on the floor, afraid to be in their bedrooms. Even though they live in the centre of the city and nowhere near the border. I asked her why - she said it's because the Israeli army warned her neighbours to evacuate the area. That means their house could also be attacked. She told me her daughters are scared all the time.
I tried to make her feel better. I told her I'd heard news that the UN Security Council had called for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. Then, down the phone, I could hear explosions happening around her. "They are still bombing buildings and shooting here," she said............................................

Leading British Jews call on Israel to halt 'horror' of Gaza
Peter Beaumont, David Smith and Ben Quinn
The Observer, Sunday 11 January 2009A group of Britain's most prominent Jews has called on Israel to cease its military operations in Gaza immediately, warning that its actions, far from improving the country's security, will "strengthen extremism, destabilise the region, and exacerbate tensions inside Israel".
Describing themselves, as "profound and passionate supporters" of Israel - and supporting its right to defend itself against the "war crime" of Hamas rocket attacks - they added that the current tactics threatened to undermine international support for Israel.
The intervention, in a letter published in today's Observer, came as fears grew that Israel was to launch a "new phase" of its military offensive inside the Gaza strip. Yesterday warplanes dropped leaflets warning Gazans "not to be close to terrorists, weapons warehouses and the places where the terrorists operate". The two-week-old campaign has already killed more than 800 Palestinians, while 13 Israelis have died, three of them civilians killed by Hamas rockets.
Although individual Jewish writers and religious figures have expressed their opposition to the conduct of Operation Cast Lead, the letter represents the most significant break with Israel's tactics from a group of UK Jews.
Prominent rabbis, academics and political figures are among the signatories, including Rabbi Dr Tony Bayfield, head of the Movement for Reform Judaism; Sir Jeremy Beecham, former chair of the Labour party; Professor Shalom Lappin of the University of London; Baroness Julia Neuberger; Rabbi Danny Rich, chief executive of Liberal Judaism; Rabbi Professor Marc Saperstein, principal of Leo Baeck rabbinical training college; and lawyer Michael Mitzman, who set up Holocaust Memorial Day Trust for the Home Office...........................................

Is there a solution? What?
The common consensus among the international community is that there have to be two states - Israel and Palestine.Israel needs to withdraw to its pre-1967 borders and stop attacks on Palestinians as a result this will bring an end to the suicide attacks. Palestinian leaders must also recognise Israel’s right to exist.
Seek knowledge about Palestine and the conflict. Follow human rights groups such as: Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, B’Tselem.Read The Fateful Triangle by Noam Chomsky, Pity the Nation by Robert Fisk, Beyond Chutzpah by Norman Finkelstein, and Blaming the Victims by Edward Said.
We need to learn the facts. Knowledge will help convince others. We need to know the truth and speak out against the illegal occupation and the oppression of a nation.
What can I do?
Write to or e-mail your MP, the Foreign Secretary and Tony Blair daily. Get your MP to speak out against Israeli human rights violations and its use of excessive force. One letter a day costs 32p - we can spare that. E-mails are free!Boycott companies that support Israel. Islamic Human Rights Commission(IHRC) have brilliant cards that fit in bags or wallets. Yes, Israel was the fox in the hen-house, the Nazi in Auschwitz, the IDS is the SS. It's normal....the bullied grows us to become a bully himself..........so Israel is now the bully.
The mere fact that 94% of the population supported the massacre of the Palestinians makes 94% of the Israeli accessories to War Crimes. In the last years I have openly refused to shake hands with Israelis........something that annoys them terribly. The jews around the world are mostly in agreement with the ethnic cleansing of Gaza.........Jews want more land. Avarice.
------------------------------------------------------Agreed jkw077. You phrased it perfectly:
Anyone who tries to justify the deaths of 1300 people, 400 of them children, on one side of a conflict that has 13 dead on the other side cannot possibly be in the right mindset to begin to solve the Middle east human catastrophe currently taking place. (jkw77)
---------------------------------------------------------
WorldPeaceTV has put it perfectly too:A UN-filed report has found that since the Israeli aggression on Gaza late last month, as many as 42 percent of the overall Palestinian dead are women and children. In one heartbreaking incident, the Israeli war machine shelled a UN-run school in which hundreds of Palestinians were seeking shelter.
As many as 33 innocent people, most of them women and children, were immediately killed in a cowardly and barbaric act that indicates that the Israeli army is deliberately targeting every living creature in Gaza.
The UN report has concluded that there is no safe space in the Gaza Strip no safe haven, no bomb shelters and the borders are closed and civilians have no place to flee. In a similar incident, Israeli forces evacuated many Palestinian civilians to a house in the Zaitoun district. Shortly after, the house was shelled and more than 100 civilians were instantly killed. Israelis have the guts killing chicken because israelis are animals. They can kill only animals and also people that dont have weapons to defend themselves like the palestinians.
They lost war in Lebanon. They are afraid to go to Iraq and instead ask the Americans to fight for them in Iraq to get rid of the weapons of mass destruction created by Saddam. So many Americans die for the war in Iraq, the war that Israelis want but are afrad to get involved directly.
