Eluana Englaro has been in coma for 17 of her 38 years. Her family is fighting for her right to die. Italy's PM drafted a decree to prevent her feeding tubes from being removed, but the president would not sign it.

The family is being truly honest but so is the president. He obviously fears God. The parents probably also believe. It is a very tough situation. My opinion is that she should be kept alive.

This is horrible. My regards to the Englaro family.

I guess this situation and the consequent decision is going to affect every country's government sooner or later. But I think it's still going to take many years before a unified approach is reached and codified in eg the ECHR
