A new survey comparing how well native English speakers know their own language shows that Americans suck worse at spelling than Brits do. Looking at commonly misspelt words, 62% of Americans got "embarrassed" wrong, against 54% of Britons; millennium (52% wrong, against 43% in UK), liaison (61% to 54% ) and "accommodation" (42% to 36%).
To be honest, both percentages are quite high. I blame spell checker. It's making people lazy with their language.

    • I literally can't think of a worse way to use time than by carrying out this survey. Isn't this fact overwhelmingly obvious? It's definitely due to an overreliance on spell checker...
