I guess you guys keep it in your pants better than us. I'm pretty sure the one in ten number could be true over here.

I'm uncomfortable with the term "illegitimate". Every person is legitimate; "illegitimate", as Clare pointed out, is a totally outdated term that we should stop using!

How on God's green earth can a child be born illegetimate. It's just not possible.Perhaps parental actions can be, but a child is born without blame, Any other view of it is ridiculous.Newborns are the only innocents on earth.

I agree ClareW. As long as a child is alive then who hell can tell them there not "legitimate" they exist and are human thats all the legitimacy i need. Who cares whether there parent were married or not.

illegitimate children is such an outdated notion anyhow, there's such a stigma attached to it, probably cos of the terminology.

people don't realize it but THIS is why the muslim world treats their women so badly... it's all about paternity.

I wonder if this number is going to go up as it seems like more and more people are moving away from traditional families. I've been hearing more and more about women in their early to mid-30s who are just deciding to be single moms, for example, rather than waiting to meet a man and get married.
