A real favourite of mine is
BREAD AND BUTTER PUDDING
--------------------------------------Gordon used pain au chocolates for his indulgent version - when Kate Garraway challenged him to a bread and butter pud cook-off.
Serves 6 - 8
Ingredients
Approx 5 - 6 pain au chocolates cut into 1cm thick slices
50g softened butter
2-3 tablespoons apricot jam
Approx 1-2 tbsp ground cinnamon
Approx 35g golden raisins
500ml whole milk
120ml double cream
2 vanilla pods, seeds scraped out
6 eggs
150g brown sugar
Demerara sugar for topping
Method: How to make Gordon's bread and butter pudding
1. Pre-heat the oven to 180°C and lightly butter a 7 x 9 inches (18 x 23 cm) baking dish.
2. Heat the jam in a pan over a low heat until it’s melted, remove and set aside.
3. Butter the slices of pain au chocolate on one side, place them in a large bowl and set aside. Now sprinkle approx 2 tsps of the cinnamon into the buttered serving dish along with the brown sugar and raisin, pour over the melted jam, reserving a small amount for glazing at the end.
4. Whisk the milk, cream, eggs, vanilla seeds, a tsp of the cinnamon and sugar together and pour half of this custard mixture all over the bread. When this has soaked in slightly, arrange the bread in the serving dish so the pieces are overlapping, continue layering the bread until all the pieces have been used, pour over the rest of the custard mix and scatter the surface of the bread with the demerara sugar and a light dusting of the remaining cinnamon.
5. Bake for 35-40 minutes until golden.
6. Brush the pudding with melted apricot jam and serve immediately. - 3 years ago

Best snack for me (sometimes breakfast) is pancakes (made at home with free range eggs) with a filling.......stewed apple and raisins with a dollop of brandy in it, or add fresh berries (mmm ..blueberries).

Yogurt and Eggs:
Numerous studies show that getting more of the omega-3 fatty acid called DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) in your diet may boost your mood and your brainpower. Even people battling tough-to-treat depression may feel as much as 50% better when they get lots of DHA. To keep your chin cheerfully up, aim for 200 milligrams (mg) of DHA a day. Mix and match DHA-fortified foods like these:
• 1 container Rachel's Wickedly Delicious Yogurt (32 mg of DHA)
• 1 Gold Circle Farm egg (150 mg)
• 1 Oh Mama nutrition bar (115 mg)
• 1 cup of Horizon Organic reduced-fat milk plus DHA (32 mg)
• 18-ounce Odwalla Soy Smart drink (32 mg) - 3 years ago

Seems as though people here have never heard of good ol, cage-free hormone-free farm eggs. Americans need to shrug off the mentality and ask for better conditions and better quality. The FDA needs to be flipped on its head. Even the "cheap eggs" here in Europe are cage-free grass-fed, but in America I pay twice as much, and they're BLEACHED WHITE?

Eggs are 'NOT' good for you, it has been proven. Eggs may have protein. But overall they aren't anygood for the human body. With all of the drugs and pestisides that these farmers are pumping into animals. And some of these people want to sit here and say eggs are good for them. Eggs are 'NOT' good for anyone to digest into their blood and into their bodies. Nor is anything else that is generated or processed from that which is an animal.

it isn't a "chicken abortion" - as someone else said, it's a chicken period. the eggs are unfertilized. unless you specifically buy those eggs which come with a foetus in them in southeast asia...
aside from the cholesterol, I haven't noticed any of the articles which take this on as discussing whether or not more than 3 eggs a week will make you fat, which I imagine they most certainly will?

The point they should be trying to make is that people with high cholesterol should pay more attention to lowering consumption of saturated fats rather than reducing cholesterol intake. I'm sure reducing both is helpful though, too.
As for the whole egg thing... it seems like they just want to advertise for people to buy more eggs...

wow, you people are really poised to eat this up, so to speak. it's amazing how a single publicized study can override decades of research and common sense. eggs are filled with cholesterol. only a third may come from diet, as the article states, but that's still a pretty huge difference when you compare two eggs (142% daily recommended value) with no animal products (0%). Not to mention the saturated fat found in animal products promotes the body to produce more of its own cholesterol.
interesting that they don't bother mentioning who funds these studies...

My sisters and I checked this out a long time ago, she was a lacto/ovo, anyway if the whole egg is eaten then the lethicin softens the fats and they are not harmful.... eating the whole food is better than ..say, the whites only. That way all of the "stuff" you need to absorb it correctly would be in the food.
By the way lethicin is used in keeping chocolate soft.
It's found naturally in some body secretions that need to stay soft for a while!!!

Sweet, i love my eggs, have one pretty much every day.
One of the better foods, as long as you actually keep yourself fit-ish and not allow it to gather up.Fried, boiled, mashed, scrambled, yummy.
Fried Egg on Toast is my personal favourite, usually have that each night. (that or boiled, then sliced) - 3 years ago
