More..At approximately 6 a.m., the man, who has not yet been identified, was struck by an SUV near Shea Stadium when attempting to cross 108th Street. Just seconds later, a dark colored van drove over the man, his body getting lodged in the vehicle's undercarriage. According to investigators, the driver of the second vehicle was apparently oblivious to what he struck and carried on driving for 17 miles to Brooklyn until a passerby was finally able to call his attention to the man's body.

As many have said before me, how can you drive 17 miles without a clue that somethings wrong?. Did the driver not hear a scraping sound?

Was the driver that drug the body text messaging while driving with their knees? There a lot drivers on the road who concentrate on everything but driving while behind the wheel. Our vehicles change from transportation to weapons when we don't concentrate on our surroundings.

That's Kool G. Rap's neighborhood! I wouldn't be surprised if the driver was on the iPhone or something. This just proves my case further that drivers of SUVs and Vans have the tendency to be oblivious to their surroundings, with a "long as I'm safe" disposition.

that really sucks. i would feel terrible if i was the driver of the red van, and dragged a person for 17 miles. at least the driver of the black car pulled over after hitting him, at least some drivers know the right thing to do after making a mistake.

The slow reaction times of the onlookers doesn't surprise me one bit. We are so fucking desensitized by death. But we love finger pointing. I got hit on my bike in the bike lane 8 months ago, in broad daylight. Driver didn't seem to notice me hooked on her side view mirror shouting obscenities and kicking the fuck out of her door. No one else seemed to notice either. I got unhooked and gave the bitch a bird telling her to wake the fuck up. She told me to ride on the sidewalk.

Perhaps we've become to much of a "me" centered world (from my observations as of late) and no one thinks or considers anything or anyone around them. I see it at stores...everywhere all the time. Granted it's hard to judge when you weren't there but I CANNOT fathom how someone could NOT see a full grown adult's body in the road in front of them (the van that dragged the victim). I've dodged animals smaller than that man at night. I sure would have seen a GROWN MAN in the road in front of my vehicle (I think).
