I guess the neocon war planners who are handling Obama never bothered to crack open a history book.
Back in the day, when we funded Afghan militants and Osama bin Laden, the Soviet went broke trying to conquere them.
Maybe this war was about controlling the poppys after all.

I am literally exuding self satisfaction from every pore in my body right now. I wish I could see all of your stupid faces as your idol "betrays" you.
I guess... WE'RE AT WAR FOR A GOOD REASON AFTER ALL?!
This is too sweet, I hope I don't get diabetes.

I'm not sure how to respond to that; you either don't understand what "exuding" means, or you're too pompous to elaborate on your point.
Either way, I'm sure we are at a hopeless stalemate in regards to foreign policy (among, surely, hundreds of other things).

He wants us out of Iraq. There is a legitimate reason we are in Afghanistan. This is the war we cannot afford to lose.

Please back that claim up with some facts, or keep your mouth shut. Generalizations like that are what make normal people hate college-age kids.

me or humanpasta?
either way we've already lost because all we've done is killed a bunch of their kids, for no good reason. to continue and play world police is beyond stupid. we have no reason to be there. we should already be in the process of cleaning up our mistakes to get the hell out of there, not sending in more troops

That was directed to you, "donkeyfly".
I'm assuming you're referring to Iraq when you say there's no reason for us to be there (although I could discuss, at length, all the reasons you are wrong for thinking so).You must back this up with some kind of information, because throwing around terms like "world police" and "killing kids" (both ludicrous) aren't earning you any points here.
If you are referring to Afghanistan, then you are hopelessly ignorant and an abomination unto the United States Educational System. Give me a specific reason why we SHOULDN'T be in Afghanistan, i.e., back it up with some numbers, don't feed me any more of this "we're killing kids and destroying crops, lol" nonsense.

ron paul believes abortions are murder. i like a lot of his other ideas, but i will never support anyone who believes a woman shouldn't have the right to choose her own medical care regarding her own body.

Really? Because I wish Ron Paul and all of his supporters would hop aboard a rocket, and squawk about laissez-faire (which didn't fucking work, by the way) all the way to the surface of the sun.
The man is a dangerous lunatic, he should be institutionalized. How he climbed this much into the spotlight is disturbing. And people like you sucking on his teats of misinformation don't help things.

glabadabadoo,
i do stand corrected on that, with apologies. i remembered later (while i didn't have computer access) that he had made this change in stance.
i have always been leery of the mainstream libertarians due to their striking similarity in belief with anarchists. while some (many) laws should be nixed, i just think that a certain basic set of laws are imperative. and historically, libertarians have been all about the freedom of the people, ..... oh yeah, except for abortion. i just can't entirely agree with that.

People. He has said that he was going to put more troops in Afghanistan for a long time now. He also said that he was going to continue attacks in Pakistan if there were valuable targets there. So he is in fact KEEPING his promises.Dont let Bush's fuckup keep you from remembering that there is a legitimate reason to be in Afghanistan.

Exactly. You can weed out the Obama robots who aren't even educated on his beliefs and platform by checking out the shocked, negative responses to this news. Just watch, it will be fun.
