Kaka wants Beckham to stay at the San Siro

Serie A star Kaka and temporary team-mate of David Beckham, has urged LA Galaxy to sell the ex-England captain to AC Milan as per Beckham's wishes.

According to the BBC, 33 year old Beckham is eager to make his loan deal with Milan a permanent set up. And Kaka for one would be happy if the lad from Leytonstone stayed in Milan, as he says the form Beckham's shown for the San Siro side has made him an indispensible player.

Unfortunately for both team-mates though, Beckham's bosses in LA expect him back in California once his loan spell expires.

Sell him! It's the only way we'll see him in an England shirt again, and I think he deserves to bow out on his international career with a bang not a whimper!

    • In November 2003 David received what he described as his "best" honour - an OBE from the Queen. "It's not just for me but for Manchester United, England, all of my teammates and my family," he said.

The same year it was announced the devoted Manchester United fan would be leaving his beloved club and moving to Madrid-based Spanish team Real Madrid on a four-year contract.

Another monumental decision came just after England bowed out of the 2006 World Cup for the second time in the quarter-final stages. The soccer ace announced he was to step down as captain of the squad - a role he held for six years. "It has been an honour and a privilege to captain our country and I wish to stress that I want to continue to play for England," he declared.

The success enjoyed by David on the football pitch was perhaps only equalled by that of "Brand Beckham". Marketing initiatives based on his iconic status included a fragrance as well as lucrative sponsorship deals - with the likes of Gilette, Pepsi and Motorola.

Keen to pass on his love for 'the beautiful game', David has also branched out into establishing football academies for young people in both the UK and the United States. The footballing star, who transferred to play at Los Angeles Galaxy in July 2007, is hoping that his move will start to increase the game's popularity Stateside.

    • This is a huge marketing and publicity coup for MLS, despite the moans of detractors that the league is in danger of becoming like the star-studded, but doomed, North American Soccer League of the 1970s. Such a comparison is facile. This time there is a solid structure in place after 10 years of mostly sensible planning. MLS has gone down a careful path to the point where it's comfortable with taking on a player of Beckham's stature, and is not just blindly signing a cheque as the quick-fix NASL owners so often did before they went bankrupt.

    • They reported this morning that Friday is 'the day' - here's hoping he stays. I agree with EmmaHIll, he deserves to go out in a bang.
