He's trying to make it sound like it's only right to pursue and arrest Phelps for smoking pot, because after all, that's what we should do to ANYBODY who smokes pot, whether it be Michael Phelps or the grandma with glaucoma (all in the name of "duty" to the government). Really?? He seriously said that he wants to strip Phelps of his medals and convict him over that fucking picture!

If this isn't blind ignorance, I don't know what is! This is exactly the mentality that we are fighting about, it's not because Phelps is an Olympic champion, it's because locking people up for cannabis use and the associated social stigma that the government has tried to put on cannabis is just plain fucking wrong and unjust!

3/4ths of a million people had their lives destroyed last year for simple possession of cannabis, a non-violent and victimless crime; unless you consider that person a criminal for doing what you consider is harming them (self-victimization?), but is that really the place of criminal law to decide? It's a public health issue, NOT a criminal issue.

This cop needs to be ran out of town! I didn't hear anyone laughing when he said he wanted to strip Phelps of his medals. They can laugh at funny jokes and tongue-in-cheek humor, but this ignorant brute of a drug war is no laughing matter. Good people are being treated like criminals while the real criminals are making insane profits off of banned substances, this has to stop!

How many public officials have to openly admit that the Drug War is a failure before we actually DO something about it?

We should be taxing and regulating it just like alcohol and giving those who need it for medicinal purposes cheaper access to the best medicinal strains. And completely outside of the "drugs debate", HEMP can be used as a major player in our newly emerging green economy. This is the time to end the illogical crime against humanity for the good of all!
