Recent remarks by new United States Attorney General Eric Holder at a Wednesday press conference have the AG on the record in response to a question on medical marijuana dispensaries.

"Right after the inauguration, there was some raids in California of medical marijuana dispensaries....was that a deliberate decision by you, by the Justice Department? Is that a prediction of policy going forward? Do you expect those sorts of raids to continue, based on what the President said during the campaign," according to a transcript from the U.S. Department of Justice.

"Well, what the president said during the campaign, you will be surprised to know, will be consistent with what we will be doing here in law enforcement. He was my boss during the campaign. He is formally and technically and by law my boss now, and so what he said during the campaign is now American policy," the transcript stated.

What exactly Holder said Obama was talking about during his campaign is up for interpretation.

Herban Legend is a marijuana dispensary located on the Mendocino Coast, and the "federal government appears to be leaving it up to local jurisdiction," Paula Deeter, of Herban Legend said Friday.

The Sheriff's Office is in closer relation to California Attorney General Jerry Brown's Office than it is to Holder's office.

"He (AG Brown) has said, aside from 11 pages of guidelines that are on our Web site, that he is waiting to hear from the United States Attorney General and the Kelly case," Mendocino County Sheriff Tom Allman said.

"I would love for it (the Kelly decision) to come out in March," said Allman.

Allman said that there has not been a lot of focus on dispensaries from the Sheriff's Office because there have not been a lot of complaints.

"Legal medical marijuana will continue to be respected in Mendocino County," Allman said.
