Those plans includes minimum pricing and ban on promotions, but its unlikely to raise age limit to 21. Scottish Conservatives says the pricing plans are flawed while the Scottish Government warned against rushing measures.
Alcohol abuse cost Scotland £2.25bn every year with 42,000+ people discharges from hospitals because of alcohol-related issues.

Maybe they should resurrect the anti-drinking posters from the early 1900s!

I don't think this is a bad idea, I think it probably will deter people from spending stupid amounts on drink and therefore stands a chance of curbing Scotland's binge drinking. Raising the drinking age is a terrible idea though.

I'm not convinced this will work, but - talking as a Scot - we drink a hell of a lot. It's almost impossible to have a social experience of any kind without large quantities of alcohol being consumed. Fun, yes. Good for health, no.

Once they realise the blunt axiom that supply equals demand (and the amount of tax profits related to alcohol consumption) promotions will soon be re-instated.

That's probably a good thing considering Scotland is ranked the eighth highest in the world for alcohol consumption. But I wonder how much of a difference changing the price of alcohol will really make.
