Guy dressed as the Joker shot dead by police

An obsessed Joker fan, in full character get up has been shot dead by police in America after pointing his gun right at them.

The man has been named as army specialist Christopher Lanum by the FBI, and he was wanted in connection with the stabbing of Mitchell Stone, a fellow soldier at a major army base in the states, several hours before.

Lanum and his girlfriend, Patsy Ann Marie Montowski had fled the army base after the incident, but the authorities soon caught up with them after they crashed their van.

Supposedly Lanum told Montowski to kill him with the shotgun but she refused. Lanum pointed the gun at the police, and after ignoring orders to drop his weapon was shot several times.

I want to know why no one thought it was strange that an army specialist was strutting around base dressed as a comic book villain? Surely that could have been the first clue that he wasn't to be trusted with a stungun? Hmmm.

Sadly I'm sure this will be another file to add to the "movies encourage violence" debate, which gets me all riled up everytime.
