Obama names Utah Governor as Ambassador to China

Thats actually pretty funny, if you consider that china has a history of killing baby girls because they don't want an overpopulation, and Utah (Mormon capital of the world) is known for mass polygamy, could Obama have found a better match?

Obama's commerce secretary is a Chinese American and a pacific rim governor, Obama has two sets of Chinese inlaws one in Canada and one in China from his half sister and half brother respectively, Obama's energy secretary is of Chinese descent and is a nobel lauriete, and now huntsman who has a Chinese daughter and is fluent in the language and who has a vested interest in Taiwan's rights. This is a potent foreign policy team in terms of Chinese commitments on lowering greenhouse gas emmisions, and getting them to cooperate on working with other players in the region. Some have even nicknamed Americas strategic partnership with China the G-2. I'm quite impressed that we have a prez smart enough to not infuriate a nation with 3 trillion in treasury bonds.

Does it really matter ... seriously??, either it will be positive or it wont. doesn't give us clean energy nor does it give health and humane services to those in need, I say we concentrate on the strings and not the puppet

I don't know how it takes him out of the running btw. It could actually really really help him. He just has to arrange to screw up Obama's policies and then resign in "disgust" or something in 2 1/2 years.

Huntsman has been considered a possible GOP presidential candidate in 2012.

He speaks Mandarin Chinese and he and his wife, Mary Kaye, have adopted a daughter from China.

Huntsman will be replaced by Lt. Gov. Gary Herbert who would serve through 2010, at which time a replacement would be elected until 2012.

I have to say that on a personal level I feel that Obama is making a very savvy move here by pretty much taking away the possibility of Huntsman Jr. challenging him in 2012. Huntsman Jr. had been seen even by the Obama administration as a rising GOP presidential candidate and a possible rival in 2012.
