I think that people that try to make a "statement", like she did should be held accountable for the rest of their life. In this country, we're allowed to express ourselves in a group or as an individual. When you take it upon yourself to attempt to kill the President, simply because you disagree with them, you take responsibility.

she got exactly what she deserved. The depraved acts she thought were "cool" with Manson?!! and pointing any gun at a prez. is very much a no-NO!! So rapists' get less time, some do not!! depends on the intent of malice! She worshipped people who gutted a pregnant woman!!
And she says' herself- "I have no regrets ! " scary! you all that think it is about time- maybe she could live with you awhile, to get a fresh start? or be your neighbor. She may be 60- but no doupt a healthy 60! - 2 years ago

"Squeaky's", release is interesting in that it brings the murders by Charlie's Family back into headlines. He encouraged a bunch of drug addled, dimwits to commit atrocities unbelievable to most Americans of the 60"s. Squeaky is a nutcase , as is Charlie, and neither should be walking around endangering the public. Helter Skelter was a pretty good book, although heavily slanted toward the prosecuters beliefs. I would be curious to see how Charlie would adjust to the modern world, since he has spent most of his life under lock and key.
Let us not forget that their victims are still dead and not up for parole. - 2 years ago

While on one hand, this is somewhat true, on the other side, it's also outdated. Yes, the acts were atrocious by 60's standards, but we're not in that age anymore.
The victims may be dead, and his crimes may seem horrible, but the man doesn't deserve to be on Death Row for manipulation of a bunch of people who weren't in control of their own minds to begin with.
Personally, I'd rather be using the money we're wasting on keeping him on Death Row to deal with the pigs in the Government who've done far, far worse than one man.

Sharon Tate was a well known actress at the time and married to Roman Polanski. Abigal Folger was heiress to the Folger Coffee fortune. Their notoriety alone sealed the fate of Charlie. The moral here is; do not kill famous people! Charlie was and still is a warped personality, probably caused by an abusive childhood and early years spent in prison being sexually abused. He had obsessed to the point that he saw himself as a great musician and composer, on the order of the Beatles. The original target of the murders was Chris Melcher, the record producer that failed to sign Charlie. But Charlie's grand plan was to blame it on black gangs and encourage a race war. A real stand up guy. I say, " let him stay in prison". After all he can get all of the sex he wants there.

It's pathetic that Manson himself is rotting in a cell for conspiracy, but any sports hero can get out on bail on Super Bowl Sunday from even Murder.

True! That's exactly what I say!! A person that works in a so-called professional business, should have to adhere to a set of standards that's more accountable than the rest of society. especially when money and perks come easier for them than the rest.

Wow that seems a bit excessive for pointing a gun (with no bullet in the chamber) at someone...even if that someone is the president. Not that Im saying someone should just get a slap on the wrists for that, but come on....almost 35 years?! Rapists get half that time and most are out in around 5-7 years!
The sentence for attempted murder against anyone other than the president is only 5-8 years. Our justice system should not hold certain citizen's lives above others, I dont care if youre the president or a McDonald's fry cook...each life should be valued the same in our legal system.
